This is because the grounds of the beloved presidential library and birthplace that surround his hallowed crypt will host an appearance by that liberal rabble-rouser Robert Scheer.
Bob Scheer?!? WTF?!? Were Hugh Hewitt, Bruce Hershenson, Laura Ingraham, Henry the K and Trickie Dickie's White House cabana boy all busy?
Apparently so, because Scheer's publisher Twelve Books sent the following our way . . .
Veteran Journalist Robert Scheer To Discuss Politics of National Security at Nixon Library October 8 at 7:30 p.m.
October 1: Robert Scheer, editor-in-chief of Truthdig.com, will visit the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum for a free public talk October 8 at 7:30 p.m. about his new book The Pornography of Power.
Scheer, known for his syndicated newspaper column and his commentary on Santa Monica radio station KCRW, was a 2007 winer of the Webby award for best political blog.
The event at the Nixon Library is free and open to the public. Reservations are acccepted at (714) 983-9120 or at email@example.com.
The Pornography of Power is an examination of the role of the defense industry and hawkish politicians in shaping U.S. policies. Publishers Weekly says that "readers will be galvanized by his incendiary account" and Vanity Fair calls it a "searing polemic."
Searing polemic? Don't these people know that the only searing polemics one is supposed to find at The Dick, as we like to call it, are the ones against Ellsberg, Woodstein and Muskie?
Fear not, Dick lovers, because the Scheer visit is not promoted on The Dick's official home page, meaning those other rabble-rousers at the National Archives are probably the ones behind this affront. As The Dick page reassuringly shows, upcoming speakers the library is currently hawking include the Dick-friendly (or Dick-palatable, if you will) Dick Morris and Michael Medved.
There, that's better.
