Live Nation and Great Park May Team Up on Amphitheater

Los Angeles-based Live Nation bills itself as "the world's largest live event company" as it owns, operates and/or has booking rights to more than 150 venues worldwide and produces thousands of live events each year. House of Blues Entertainment is a division of Live Nation. Technically, the park board's directors, if they go along with this, would recommend that the Irvine City Council approve and authorize the park's CEO to negotiate with Live Nation on the amphitheater agreement. The park's board is composed of the entire City Council, which would vote separately on the recommendation.
The board would also have to vote to recommend the park's operating budget be readjusted to account for the $93,000 study.
Other items on the board's agenda include feasibility studies regarding a Center for Community Organizations on a 3.5-acre site at the southwest section of the proposed Sports Park District, a Nature Education Garden on an 11.6-acre site surrounding and including the Officers Club Building in the Sports Park District and a Museum of Heritage and Aviation north of the Great Park Balloon.
The latter would include a budget re-adjustment of $500,000 for a Museum Master Plan.
