I was reading theLiberalOC and found this interesting post in which the writer points to the lack of coverage of the Mike Carona sentencing in the conservative blogosphere, and reminds us of Carony Jon Fleischman's ringing endorsement of the sheriff, which included this paragraph: "There have been a number of news articles (primarily in the OC Weekly and in the LA Times) that have been negative about the Sheriff. Well, I can tell you as someone who is truly in a position to sort out fact from fiction -- most of what they have said simply isn't true."
Greenhut's post goes on to name GOP chairman Scott Baugh, Red County blogger Matt "Jubal" Cunningham and unnamed other establishment Republicans as joining Flash Reporter Fleischman in being absent from the debate they started over the criminal sheriff's guilt or innocence now.
It would be nice to read what Carona's staunchest GOP defenders have
to say now about the conviction and sentencing. Were they duped? Are
they sorry? Is this merely a case of prosecutorial abuse? Do they still
think Carona epitomizes GOP values? Did they just not see the other
side of Mike? Did they know about how he was running the department?
Were they simply doing the bidding of the party? This might be
interesting, especially as they advance the agendas of other
politicians.
(To
be nonpartisan, Greenhut also notes that Moxley, who he calls the
"reporter who did the most legwork exposing the corruption," also
revealed early on members of the Democratic establishment defending
Carona.)
What you are hearing from the usual GOP-can-do-no-wrong suspects instead are defenses of others criticized in Weekly reporting and elsewhere, including Assemblyman Diane Harkey (R-Dana Point), Monsignor John Urell and Republican hack-job John Lewis.
At least they keep us busy.

Cunningham's self-defense on Red County is that he's a poor 'ol volunteer blogger, and as such just didn't have the time to write anything about the Carona trial.
The Red County crowd's silence on Carona is an interesting contrast to the telephone books worth of blog postings that they've produced on Sheriff Hutchens' revocation of concealed-weapons permits -- an item of little interest or relevance to anyone who's not a gun nut or a Republican apparatchik who received a toy badge and CCW permit as part of their Mike Carona Fun Pak.

Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican. Or the County Sheriff. Sometimes that means having absolutely nothing to say at all.

Learn to read, Biff.
I didn't say I was a volunteer blogger. i said I blog part-time.
And I didn't say I didn't have time to write about the Carona trial. I said I decided to devote my time to covering other things since OC Weekly, the OC Register and the LA Times were providing plenty of coverage and opinion.
Boiled down, you disagree with Red County bloggers' choices regarding what to cover -- and your opinion on that is an item of little interest or relevance to me.
In the future, work on those reading comprehension skills so you can comment on what I've said, instead of what you think I've said.

I'm sorry, Matt -- I should've said "part-time" blogger instead of "volunteer" blogger. (I guess that my subconscious was just making uncharitable assumptions about Red County's business success.) And indeed, you didn't say that you didn't have time to write about the Carona trial in *particular* -- you just said that you "simply do not have enough time to cover everything political, governmental and legal in Orange County" in the context of a blog post regarding someone castigating you for failing to write about the Carona trial.
In the future, I'll work on interpreting your posts in the nuance-free, 100%-plausible-denability-friendly manner that you desire.

This isn't the first time that Matt "Jerbal" Cunningham has ignored news that is inconvenient to his party machine. In particular he is covering up for John Lewis, the GOP consultant who created Mike Carona.
Now Lewis is trying to get Tom Daly elected - and it took Jerbal a month to allow one of his part time bloggers to tell their readers that Lewis is backing a Democrat, Daly, over a Republican candidate, Shawn Nelson, for Chris Norby's seat on the Board of Supervisors.
You cannot rely on Red Klownty for the truth - you have to look elsewhere for that. All they do is spin, spin, spin...

Art, you beat me to it.
Biff, the reason Red Klownty's editor was SILENT on this subject was because John Lewis (Jerbals boss) worked for Corona and Jerbal works (see link below) for John Lewis, "code of silence".

Art/Tony --
While I disagree with Matt politically on most things (for race for city council being an exception Art), the name calling from both of you is frankly beneath a fourth grader. If you can't crticize his political views without your argument deteriorating into personal insults.
It's not like there isn't good material from the OC GOP by whcih to criticize, but honestly, the name calling doesn't just make you look small, it's a signed confession that you are.
