Unfortunately, the competition for who is best-est will also involve Scott the Bear, Musty the Mustang, PowerCat, Gunrock, Matty the Matador, Olé and Prospector Pete.
That's because mascots from the Big West conference compete in the eighth annual "Mascot Mayhem" pentathlon from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. at the Downtown Disney ESPN Zone.
The fully costumed furries will square off against one another in tug-o-war, Hula Hoop, basketball free-throw shooting, arm wrestling and snowmobile racing.
The reigning champ is UC Riverside's Scotty the Bear.
(In case you were wondering, Musty the Mustang represents Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, PowerCat comes from University of the Pacific, Gunrock hails from UC Davis, Matty the Matador matters to students at Cal State Northride, Olé is okay at UC Santa Barbar and Prospector Pete, of course, is the Long Beach State mascot.)
Cheerleaders will perform alongside the mascots, and some university bands are also scheduled to perform in a "Battle of the Bands" outside the event, which is free and open to the public. The ESPN Zone is located at 1545 Disneyland Dr., Anaheim.
