Avoid the cuffs.

There will be a DUI/drivers license checkpoint starting at 8 tonight in Anaheim. An hour later, there's one in Santa Ana. (Locations of each follow after the jump.) Also at 9 tonight, special "saturation" patrols begin in Dana Point, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano. All these anti-DUI operations end at 3 a.m. Saturday.

Anaheim's DUI/drivers license checkpoint will be in the 500 block of North Magnolia Avenue from 8 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the police department there.

The Santa Ana checkpoint will be in the area of 500 W. First St.

"All vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested," warns the Santa Ana Police Department, but the cops in Anaheim would tell you the same thing.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department is running the saturation patrols on streets in the three contract cities known for drunken driving arrests and crashes.

All these operations are funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Check Navel Gazing soon for details on an upcoming checkpoint in Tustin.

Natzi! I let me see your papers, I changed to license and registration! I it is every citizens constitutional right to travel without being harassed. Interesting that anyone who opposes the checkpoints is immediately labeled as doing something wrong! I

Not wanting my privacy and person harassed without warrant is not because I am doing something wrong. I it's because I have a RIGHT that someone long before any of us were here wrote and made sure the constitution included. So we're our four fathers protecting criminals, I or were they protecting us from a police state??

DUI checkpoints are illegal. There needs to be probable cause to "check" a driver for possible alcohol use. What about all the drivers out there under the influence of Xanax, Ativan, Valium and other controlled substances? Are we stopping them and having them pee in a cup?

Aside from 4th amendment rights, there's also property rights. Their publication, their choice. Deal with it.

There is always so many haters when you post this info. I just want to say thanks for posting this info, I don't drink but I hate getting hassled by the cops for no reason.

You people who are against checkpoints dont know shit how it benefits me to avoid the long line, and the drunk ass person can't think logically not drink and drive nor find a designated driver nor is coherent enough to go on Facebook to read what's going on. He will get the DUI, not me

Well it helps for those not driving under the influence as well since checkpoints can take a while to get through.

Yeah and so? Thats more important than stopping a drunk driver from killing even ONE innocent victim? Thats a pretty disgusting human being to not care for another humans life so much that they feel being hassled or deportation as being more important than human life... i feel sorry for people like you.

WooHoo!!! Now all those driving under the influence know where to avoid and can go on to kill innocent victims and ruin lives thanks to you!!!! GOOD JOB! PS: regardless of all the other reasons people will try to give as to reason warning people is a "good thing" cuz of their rights blah blah blah... in the end they save lives and take assholes of the street that otherwise will crash into someone and kill them. But i suppose people being hassled is more important than one human life right?

It's not simple at all! If your not breaking the law you should'nt have to worry about dealing with a time consuming, rights attacking, illegal dui checkpoint at all! But thank you for the adolecent update!
