Michael Frederick Molle is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
A man who returned to his Rossmoor home from a hospital where he'd visited his wife Thursday night found a party being held without his permission, shot his step-grandson in the hand and fired a round into the head of his step-granddaughter, who is clinging to life, according to media and law enforcement reports.

Michael Frederick Molle, 72, was later booked on suspicion of attempted murder and held in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, the Orange County Sheriff's spokesman.

This happened around 8:25 p.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of Tucker Lane, said Hallock, who added, "It appears the shootings stemmed from a domestic dispute, but no further details are being released."

But KCAL9 was able to fill in more details, at least according to neighbors on the scene. They are the ones who told the station the 23-year-old brother was shot in the hand and the 22-year-old sister was shot in the head. It was the neighbors who also disclosed to KCAL9 that Molle had returned from the hospital to find the party and apparently went ballistic, having recently told the siblings to move out.

The brother was treated and released from the hospital, "however, the female victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries," according to Hallock.

A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, the lieutenant added. Molle, who was arrested at the home, is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at 714.647.7044 or 714.647.7000. Anonymous tips may left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855.847.6227 (855-TIP-OCCS) or via occrimestoppers.org.

He sure doesn't look like the friendly grandpa I had.  I had respect for my grandparents and would never even think to throw a party at their house.  But talk about overreacting!!

Please tell me this guy is mentally ill...because I don't want to think any sane person would think shooting someone is even a remotely appropriate reaction to an unauthorized party. :-(

@fishwithoutbicycle Whoa...slow down.  Gramps comes home from the hospital and these little shits are tearing up the joint that he worked for his whole life.  He tells them to break it up; get the fuck out.  In response, the two little F'tards tell him, "FU Gramps!"

Guess what I'm gonna do next in that situation?

@fishwithoutbicycle  The kids live there; police are no help.  Plus, what if the kids threatened him?  What do you do?

You know the worst part about this incident?  Those little pricks will have a million snapchat friends telling 'em how Gramps was 100% at fault and they were entitled to their little party. They'll learn absolutely zero.

@fishwithoutbicycle @20ftjesus I can see the logic of 20ftjesus although I think he's being a little sarcastic.  Grandparents don't usually ask their grandkids to move out so there has to be more to the story in terms of their behavior.  I would never in a million years ever think to disrespect my grandparents, ever.  And if your grandma is in the hospital would you ever party at her house while she's in a hospital bed?  Kinda shows bad character on the kids parts.  They should be grateful to be in their 20s and having grandparents who let them live with them.  Grandpa probably didn't give a fuck.  They were his step grandkids.  He's old, his wife is sick and he probably has had it with them.  He went the grandpa version of going postal.  Now clearly he's a little off his rocker but he's old and probably don't care.

@fishwithoutbicycle

Maybe he did wave it around and the little assholes threatened to put it on youtube and call the cops?

Bravo! Gramps.  Bravo!  Now, go to range and practice your aim.  Should've splatted both those little turds.

Now you're getting the hang of it.  Finally.

Someone should write a song:

Gramps went and got his 1911,

Now, you're gonna go to heaven,
