DA Tony Rackauckas Election Opponent Schedules Bowling For Anti-Corruption Event

GregDiamondbowl.jpg
With three weeks to go before California's June 3 primary election, the long-shot challenger to Tony Rackauckas has scheduled an event to publicize the incumbent Orange County District Attorney's "corruption."

Greg Diamond--an Orange County Democratic Party officer, former Jerry Brown campaign official, civil attorney and political blogger--hopes to win attention to his effort with a May 17 bowling alley event he's calling "Strike Out Corruption."

Diamond announced his campaign earlier this year when it was clear Rackauckas rival Todd Spitzer, a Republican Orange County supervisor, would again forgo a campaign against his old boss and nobody else was interested in offering voters a ballot choice.

First elected in 1998, Rackauckas--a former homicide prosecutor and state superior court judge--is popular in the county's Republican and business circles, but has earned bitter resentment inside local police unions after he attempted to hold three Fullerton cops accountable for the brutal, 2011 killing of Kelly Thomas.

If victorious this year, Rackauckas will be 75 years old at the completion of his fifth term in office.

Diamond's 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. event is set for Linbrook Bowl at 201 S. Brookhurst Street in Anaheim.

For a $20 campaign donation (or $25 at the door) attendees receive three bowling games, shoe rental and desserts.

Removing T-Rack from office is a worthy cause.

He is leaving whether through the ballot box or due to prosecution for willfully covering up attempted murder by cop against an American citizen in his County.

Got a chance to become familiar over some time with G Diamonds'  "politics" on the FFFF website. Imo, he is as wishy-washy as they come. Would not be surprised if he was approached by the re-elect T-rack crowd, to run against him, as a "token" candidate, just to keep up appearances.

Here's the problem: Three inches to the right of this column, you are advertising a "PREAKNESS PARTY" at Santa Anita racetrack during the same time.

So for $25. bucks do I go to Arcadia and get TWO beers, hot chicks, drunk gamblers and a chance win $4,000.

OR

For $25.00 help change the world by eating Albertsons cup cakes, while bowling with what promises to be an interesting crowd of family members, FAR LEFT types (who are likely opposed to the sport of bowling in principal all the while listening to Diamond talk and talk and talk.

So this is what it has come to in O.C.? A soft boiled egg, like G. Diamond, running against a corrupt, O.D.B.? O.C., run like a backwater, hick-town is California's dirty 'lil joke on it's tax paying citizens.

It is very unfortunate that Rackauckas doesn't have a qualified opponent running against him as he is long overdue for replacing.

And that's on May 17? Sounds fun.

Yeah – as I recall, many people on FFFF thought that I was "wishy-washy" (not the term I recall being used) because they didn't realize that I had called the case correctly from pretty much the outset:

  (1) Ramos would not be convicted for murder because he could rely on the protection of FPD policy;

   (2) Cicinelli might be convicted for murder — but it would depend on the details found to have caused his death (in this case, it was a determined to be a matter of it being compression asphyxiation — “oops, we were ill-trained!” — rather than the damage done from his beating Thomas’s face in with his taser);

   (3) It would be more productive for changing policy to focus on the less sexy excessive use of force charges than the murder and maybe even manslaughter charges; and

   (4) the real “justice” to be done in these cases would come from the civil trial against the FPD, whose policies were most directly responsible for Thomas’s death.

That crowd did not brook disagreement well. And yet, had I been DA, I believe that I would have gotten a conviction on excessive force against Cicinelli at least -- by making it harder for the jury to sweep its rejection of that charge into their rejection of the other charges.

The notion that Rackauckas is happier to have had a even a token candidate (if that’s what I turn out to be) than a free ride is an example of the jumping to absurd conclusions that typified FFFF at its worst. Thankfully, much smarter people also participated there.

"O.C., run like a backwater, hick-town is California's dirty 'lil joke on it's tax paying citizens"

Great description. A dirty 'lil joke the entire nation is going to hear about. Chock full of #donaldsterling wannabes.

But do you dislike him for the right reasons?

@18usc241  Likes and dislikes are in the mind of the beholder.  You have your reasons and I have mine and with that guy, both are likely valid.  I will be voting for "None of the Above."

Lt. Par has called me everything from crazy to Scientologist to frustrated ex-deputy to druggie/common criminal. Given that erroneous track record, his assessment of Mr. Diamond should be taken with a boulder sized chunk of salt.

@diamondforda2014 @18usc241  Greg you may be an attorney but you are about as qualified to be the top law enforcement officer in Orange County as I am.  I will give you an A however, for having the balls to challenge our current worthless D.A.

@18usc241 Pat neither knows nor cares about my qualifications for the office.  That sort of thing just gets in the way of commenting.

Holy Toledo! Almost sounds like you gave me the benefit of the doubt for a second there.
