Is Jerry Brown Nominating the Orange Diocese's Keeper of Pedo-Priest Secrets as a OC Judge?

The buzz going around the Diocese of Orange is that California governor Jerry Brown is considering general counsel Maria Rullo Schinderle as a judge. And if ever you needed a laugh, it's in that possibility.

Schinderle has worked for the Orange diocese since 1998, basically at the beginning of the regime of former Bishop Tod D. Brown. She was his point person on how to confront legally pedophilia among his priests, and what to do with all those pesky survivors who wanted justice--and we all saw how good THAT went for county Catholics.

Schinderle is about as qualified to be a judge as I'd be qualified to be John Holmes' stunt double, and Schinderle's foes are righteously up in arms about it. Famed sex-abuse survivor's advocate Joelle Casteix has a lengthy post on the subject enumerating the many reasons why Brown should throw Schinderle's resume in his compost bin, which y'all should read over here. Meanwhile, here's what famed attorney John Manly posted on his Facebook page:

Governor Jerry Brown is trying to appoint Maria Rullo Schinderle, the General Counsel/Human Resorces Director of the Diocese of Orange (1998-2014) as a Superior Court Judge in Orange County. Her name has been submitted to JNE Commission as a nominee by him for consideration. Ms. Schinderle was one of only 2 or 3 individuals in the Diocese of Orange who had access to what the Church called its "secret archives". These files documented the victimization of countless children by priests and worse that many of these pedophile priests were allowed to remain in ministry through 2002 until our clients forced them out through lawsuits. She was actively involved in efforts to dismiss or minimize our clients claims and I have numerous troubling stories about her views on child protection. This is a stunning development and I urge all my friends to call the Governors office and protest this appointment. The number is 916 445 2841. Tell the Governor and his staff that an attorney involved in this type of activity has no business being a judge.

So do what John and Joelle say, and CALL CALL CALL!

I e-mailed the Gov rather than wait on the line forever waiting for a human.

What a flippin disaster this appointment would be. It just shows how out-of-step even democrats are on topics like this.

I am a former Diocese of Orange employee.... if Maria Michele Rullo, Schinderle or whatever she calls herself is appointed to be a Judge, this country is more corrupt than I ever imagined.  After witnessing how Schinderle/Rullo operated as an Human Resource Director, I cannot help but wonder if she is extorting and/or forcefully persuading Governor Brown (once once in the Catholic seminary) to appoint her as a Judge.

REMEMBER PEOPLE....Rullo/Schinderle has access to all the secret archived files and has kept filthy truths from parents with children who were placed in harm's way of Catholic priests/known sexual predators for many years.  What kind of a moral and decent human being would ever intentionally ignore protecting children and punish employees and parents who report violations of the law?  I will give you all one guess-----Maria Michele Rullo, aka Maria Schinderle, Spokesperson, HR Director, Attorney, Eucharistic Minister, practicing Catholic, and the list continues.

THIS IS PERSONAL OPINION OF COURSE, but I can guarantee with my life that Diocese of Orange employees know the dangers of this woman and are forever grateful to her for not firing them in exchange for remaining silent..... cannot help but wonder if Lu Dominguez, Marybeth Dougherty, Jim Hartigan, Jerry Holloway, Merrit Hemenway, Rich Schaaf, Randy Redwitz, Meredith Moody, Carol Smith, and many others will ever break their silence.

Now that Rullo is employed by attorney Tim Busch, the founder of JSerra Catholic High School,  Rullo will have full control over terminating each and every JSerra Catholic HS, Santa Margarita Catholic, Mater Dei, Rosary, Connelly and Servite employee who dares report the truths to a law enforcement agency. Rullo's new employment with attorney Tim Busch's firm is just in time for former teacher Ricardo Aldana's criminal trial and any civil lawsuits filed because of Servite HS Reeder and/or Aldana allegations.  GOOD JOB BISHOP VANN!  You are following in Bishop Brownie's footsteps.

Thank you for informing us of this Gustavo. I think this may be one of the most important pieces you've ever written. This is coming from someone who was raised in the Catholic Church. I was an alter boy, and attended Catholic schools for 10 years, including two years at Mater Dei. In my sophomore year I actually had to run away from home, threatening not to come back until my parents pulled me out of that hell hole and enrolled me in public school. I barely escaped the clutches of then vice principle Father Michael Harris. I never realized it at the time until I read about Father Harris's exploits many years later in the (you guessed it) OC Weekly. It didn't register with a 14 year old boy why a priest was locking the door behind us while rubbing his hands through my hair telling me what a handsome boy I was. I just knew it made me very uncomfortable and I'm sure the look on my face conveyed that because he backed right off. Years later after reading about Harris in the Weekly it all made sense. To you Gus, I say gracias amigo! And if I misspelled that it's because those bastards stuck me with two years of German, when I really wanted to learn Spanish.

The Diocese of Orange and Orange County CA law enforcement suffer from the same evil spirit. Ironically, both wear costumes while demanding respect.

@roman_archer

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing, my friend. Even if you didn't understand what was happening to you at the time you were blessed with the instincts to know it was horribly wrong. Kudos to you for taking charge of your own destiny.

PS I wish I'd taken some Spanish in high school...but I think I took French to be rebellious. ;-)

@18usc241 "both wear costumes while demanding respect" Damn, that was a good one. Wish I'd thought of it.

@18usc241 Did you know that the OC Sheriff, Diocese of Orange and Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese ALL share the same defense law firm?  Makes a normal, law abiding citizen wonder how years of obstructions of justice and civil rights violations are repeatedly reported to the feds, BUT yet, not one individual has enough integrity and courage to stop the destroying of lives.

If this woman becomes a Judge, it is time for everyone to just throw any hope of the fair administration of justice not only in the OC but throughout the U.S.  This woman has potential evil seeds in many places.

Yes, I believe the OC Weekly has mentioned it in the past.

Where are the good priests and good cops that would dismantle this temple of criminal filth?

That's why many in the police accountability movement pose the provocative question - where are the good cops? Good question?

@18usc241 Gracias for sharing! I always enjoy learning about my fellow commenters. I knew we had a lot in common.

Product of Catholic schools from approx. 1973 to 1981. Altar boy of the year - 1977 - Our Lady of Pompeii Church (Manhattan). Took four years of French at Justice Scalia's Xavier High School.

And if any representative of the Catholic church had touched me in an inappropriate manner my Ecuadorian mother and I would have dismantled the temple of filth ourselves 30+ years ago.

I could imagine the Church sending a bunch of sleaze bag Italian/Irish NYPD cops to harass me and my family. Two temple of filth take downs for the price of one.

By the way, Supreme Court Justice Scalia's behavior on the bench is the polar opposite of everything we learned at our now 50,000 dollar to attend High School.
