Lovesober.com Matches Singles in Recovery
If you thought online dating had gotten ridiculous with sites dedicated to farmers hooking up with other farmers ("City folks just don't get it"), you'll love this one.
"Sober Singles across the nation can now discover and communicate with other singles in recovery within a safe, fun and secure online community," reads the pitch for Lovesober.com, which was "founded by members of the recovery community in 2013."
Mission Viejo's Paul Kole says he and Paul Williams launched Lovesober.com because singles in recovery often find they cannot rely on the usual physical places (think bars) to meet possible future companions. Meanwhile, general hook-up sites (virtual and otherwise) might expose sober singles to abusers of substances better left avoided.
"Being single in recovery can limit the social avenues where one might find love and companionship," Kole explains in his pitch. "Lovesober.com was created to help singles in recovery expand their ability to discover each other beyond their current environment while supporting the individual's personal recovery. It's a less complicated way to connect while maintaining sobriety."
Basic membership is free and includes free browsing, free messaging, free to add favorites and unlimited photo uploads. It's $5 to $15 monthly for upgraded memberships that include unlimited access to all website features such as initiating instant messaging, unlimited emails, who viewed your profile, video chat and video profiles. The entire site is mobile friendly.
Fine. We get it (and we're city folk). But if a site emerges dedicated to sober farmers, it has officially gotten ridiculous.
