A Los Angeles Police Department officer has been charged with child abuse for repeatedly striking a teen relative so severely for misbehavior and poor grades that it left welts and bruises.

Daniel Hun Chun, 39, had an arraignment hearing Friday that was continued to May 6 at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.

He is out of custody after posting $100,000 bail.

Around 4 p.m. on March 13, Chun allegedly hit the victim repeatedly with a variety of household items on his shoulders, back and backside, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.

A school counselor noticed the boy's wounds and contacted police, prosecutors add.

Chun is charged with felony child abuse and felony corporal injury on a child and faces up to six years in state prison with a conviction.

sick angry sadistic bastard should lose his pension, and get a 3 year sentence for each time he struck the boy.  most people in the public sector would get strict punishment.  but gubbermint workers are held to a different standard.   damn public parasites.

We've already established that the police are to be held to a lower standard than a schizophrenic homeless man; continuing to point it out is just despressing.

Good! Anyone that beats a defenseless child doesn't deserve the freedom to be near them, whether or not it's theirs

If he treats his own relatives with brutality, make you wonder how he treated the general public.

whats the problem? kid was getting poor grades and misbehaving and got punished... hardcore, but that's good parenting... if only the Mexicans would learn how  to do that, we would have less gangbangers

I hope someone is protecting the teen in case Uncle Daniel-san wants to finish the job.

@JBinOC -- since my son doesn't have a wife, we've always referred to those shirts as "mom" beaters shirts ever since he was a little boy, even though he's the most loving son, it's always been a "joke" between us and when he ever gets married, then he can refer to them as "wife" beaters.  LOL!

@roman_archer

I had a friend whose father who was so incredibly mild-mannered in the public eye it would have been easy to dismiss her claims of abuse...but I saw the bald spots on her head where he'd ripped her hair out...and I heard him screaming at her in the background when we were on the phone because he'd flipped out over some mundane question she had asked him. :-(

I know a lady whose WASP parents would "beat the devil" out of her just about every night. Eventually she figured if she was going to be beaten anyway what was the purpose of even TRYING to be good if the result was the same? So she decided to do whatever she pleased because she knew it wouldn't make any difference in the end. She's essentially a poster child for the ineffectiveness of corporal punishment.

then you would be saying that there are no good people

think about it

YOU ARE ASKING PEOPLE to face danger risk their lives

see criminals left back out onto the streets

murders rapes young children adults etc attacked maimed and killed etc

A war on a daily basis

YOU want to be protected and you know it

if someone(s) were attacking you you would want the police to help you

AGAIN I SAY

GOOD COPS WANT BAD COPS OFF THE FORCE

AND THE PARENTS MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN RAISING THEIR CHILDREN

if you dont want to be honest

that is on you

@fishwithoutbicycle "corporal punishment". I hear that was his nickname among fellow officers.
