Octomom Nadya Suleman has been slapped with another felony count in the welfare fraud case against her.

The 38-year-old single mother of 14, who has been living with her brood in Orange, is scheduled to be arraigned on a second charge of aid by misrepresentation at her next scheduled court appearance March 11 in downtown Los Angeles.

Octomom Nadya Suleman Charged with Welfare Fraud

The former La Habra resident, whose real name is Natalie Denise Suleman, pleaded not guilty at her Jan. 17 arraignment to one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for aid.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office alleged at the time she failed to report nearly $30,000 in earnings from personal appearances and porn video residuals during the first six months of 2013, noting Suleman had filed for public assistance in Lancaster that January. She received more than $6,600 from CalWORKs and more than $9,800 from CalFresh.

The new count alleges she received more than $9,800 in MediCal benefits.

Conviction on all counts could put her behind bars for six years and four months, according to the DA's office. But prosecutors said before the latest charges came down that they would try to esolve the case without a trial if Octomom can pay the money back.

Everyone is outraged at Octomom, as a taxpayer. I am more outraged at The 2 State dinners at the WhiteHouse one they say cost the Tax payers like $467,000 and the other $250,000+ Also the figures for the most recent State dinner is not in yet. Wonder what they ate!!! That cost that much. I know it is security and staff etc. I just think He is out of control. Just my opinion. As for Octomom it will cost the state a lot more to foster these kids out to homes and split up these children. Make her pay back the money and be done with it.

Today she is a drug counselor where just one year ago she was a patient. The owner of the rehab now pays her minimum wage or about $1,500 a month so the CalWorks program can pay her live in nanny $4,000 to $4,500 per month AND she still receives over $1,800 a month in food stamps. She lives rent free in a house he (the rehab owner) owns .....and he formed a corporation with her...... Either way the state is going to care for these kids until adulthood....they might have a fighting chance if she goes to jail!

So, if she goes to jail; we, taxpayers, will pay for a babysitter.  While she is having fun at the women's jail?   BFD.    Go after illegal aliens, who really rip off the welfare system.

when is enough is enough. either take the kids away because she's not talking care of them or just leave it out of the news

One bad apple doesn't mean the whole basket is bad.

Most people are off of welfare in less than three years. Less than 10% are on welfare for more than about seven years.

Fraud rate is so low (last estimate I heard was in the neighborhood of .25%), that it would cost far more to remove the residual than would be saved to the tax payers.

The vast majority of people who grow up on welfare don't want to continue to live on it, it's a shit lifestyle.

@alexj774  *See my other comment above*

AND rest assured the state is paying over $10,000 RIGHT NOW for her family and will continue until they are adults UNLESS they are adopted...which if she went to jail....they would at least have a chance at life with families that want to love them...NOT exploit them.

@alexj774  So you'd rather have her learn that she can defraud the government and taxpayers?  Illegal alien or not, she's been ripping off the system.

That's the only reason I still give a hoot about "octobomb"...I worry about her kids. :-(

There's finally that chance, at least for 6 year and 4 months.

@BillxT  Right.  The majority don't want to.  However not only did she want to collect, but she was making far too much.  That $30k she underreported is for ONLY SIX MONTHS.  That means she was earning $5,000 PER MONTH too much.

This isn't a case of someone using it temporarily and making a genuine effort to get off.  She wanted to get a hold of all the money she could for herself.

@BillxT  Natonal statistics on Welfare and other low income entitlements would suggest your asumptions are incorrect.  Welfare and Food Stamps are at all time highs as are people on long term unemployment.  Look around, especially in the inner cities and you will see families with three generations of welfare under their belts.

Yes, the lifestyle is "shit" as you suggest and that motivates some but not enough people to break the cycle.  At the same time, your government wants to make you more dependant on entitlements because that is how they control you, your votes and presently the country as a whole.  The recent CBO report points that out with Obamacare as the focus.  Unless something changes, one day we will run out of people who work, pay taxes and foot the bills for those who don't.  Ask yourself, what will happen then?

@sweetliberty17761776  Would you mind retyping this?  Proper grammar and punctuation would make your post a lot easier to read.  If you are an example of non-Dems, you are making your side look bad.

@ANClements and @BillxT  Great info but it's actually even worse, The $30,000 under reported income was from January 4, 2013 to March 30, 2013 because she moved back to Orange County April , 2013

@ANClements @BillxT Help me out here, just how does that invalidate any statement I have made? I made a general comment in reply to the other general comments. Explicitly, the phrase I used "One bad apple" might give one a clue to where I was going.

1. what assumption(s)?

The majority of families who leave the welfare system do so after a relatively short period of time -- about half leave within a year; 70 percent within two years and almost 90 percent within five years. But many return almost as quickly as they left -- about 45 percent return within a year and 70 percent return by the end of five years.

Testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on Human Resources LaDonna Pavetti

2. actually welfare spending is down (http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/01/25/us/20090126-welfare-table.html?_r=0)

These are not assumptions, and yes, they are backed up by numbers.

@ltpar @BillxT

What bothers me is that social welfare programs make up a relatively small portion of the national budget but they're always the first on the chopping block when it's time for cuts to be made. And it was the Bush Administration that cut VETERANS BENEFITS...what was the justification for that? That's something I WANT my tax dollars to pay for!

@FishWithoutBicycle @ltpar @BillxT  I think it is safe to say that politicans no longer work for the people who elected them.  Our priorities do not matter?  They are now focused on their own self interests and those of the Special Interests who own them. Time to fire them all and hang a few in the process.
