The bad kind of bondage
We like helping our readers out--especially when we can help them avoid a DUI. We've found a handful of checkpoints going up in the coming week, some confirmed and some not. Take a look over the list, and please be safe. We need you, you know.

Friday, December 13:

Tustin - Undisclosed location from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Cypress - Undisclosed location from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Newport Beach - Undisclosed location from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday, December 14:

Huntington Beach - Undisclosed location from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Long Beach - East Long Beach from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Garden Grove will be going balls to the wall with checkpoints on Dec. 13, 14, 20, and 21. However, they've yet to release the exact locations. For the most up to date information, check out Best OC Events.

We hope you'll be cautious no matter where you go, though! Whether people are cheery or morbidly depressed, there's an extra amount of partying going on and law enforcement knows it. Take a walk, call a cab, or drink at home instead! And if you see someone obviously out-of-control on the road, don't hesitate to call 9-1-1. We should all be in the business of saving the life of some poor, unsuspecting motorist.

I agree that if you get caught then you deserve it. What makes me most angry is that getting caught isn't even the WORST thing that can happen. I absolutely don't think that the police departments should have to put the info out there but for whatever reason they do; probably to warn the public of slowing/stopped traffic in their area.

haha..if you get caught…you deserve it. Taxi #'s are probably the easiest #'s to get at a bar.

It appears that the NB checkpoint will be at Newport Boulevard and Finley Avenue. But I'm with Aaron, get a DD or take a taxi, please.

Why not post phone numbers to Taxi cab companies. Or organizations that pick you up and tow your car home for FREE. Warning drunk drivers about check points doesn't make them anymore responsible. Good for them, they can take another route only to put themselves and others in danger still.

As long as they do not have WUI Checkpoints, I'm cool. Don't own a car.

How about instead of avoiding the checkpoints, get a designated driver? Please?
