5 Reality Checks from Jenna Jameson's Interview on the Oprah Winfrey Network
When Oprah Winfrey interviewed then recently retired porn star Jenna Jameson in 2009, the "stay-at-home mom" was seen in remote segments on the daytime talk show welcoming cameras to the Huntington Harbour home she shared with Tito Ortiz and their twin babies Jesse and Journey.
Fast forward four years to Sunday night on OWN's Oprah: Where Are They Now?, and Jameson was back in Surf City, where this time she was seen frolicking on the beach and about the Hyatt resort on PCH, where she confided, "There's been a huge amount of change since I last spoke with Oprah, a huge amount."
The most powerful woman in America was not shown Sunday sitting across from Jameson as Winfrey did in '09, appearing only in a brief taped snippet between the outdoor shots and Jenna talking one-on-own with a producer, perhaps in a Hyatt suite.
In the first interview, Jameson promoted her then-new book, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star. Jameson was back Sunday to hawk another, her novel Sugar, which she called "Fifty Shades of Grey to the 100th power."
But through a mouth that appeared to have been reconstructed by whomever carved Batman villain Joker's permanent smile, Jameson of 2013 gave some quite curious answers given her recent (and very public) custody battles with Ortiz, run-ins with the law and apparent (take you pick) boozy-ness/druggy-ness/loopyness.
1. (More) time needed to heal all wounds
She says on the Oprah special of Ortiz, "Right now things are raw between myself and my ex-. It's going to take some time." Reality check: In the video above TMZ shot of her in downtown Huntington Beach this weekend, Jameson seems to extend that amount of time after being asked if she still roots for the MMA legend: "I'm rooting for Rampage. He's hot, he's sweet, and he's really good at what he does. ... And he doesn't whine all the time." She obviously was unaware Ortiz's bout with Rampage Jackson was off due to an injury for her Baby Daddy, who Jameson informed TMZ she has "zero" feelings for.
2. Waking life
On Sunday's show, Jameson said, "Getting a DUI, I think, was a huge wake up call for me. At the time I was going through a lot of problems and a lot of issues with my ex. And I was thinking more about myself and made such a big mistake." Reality check: "At the time" refers to May 25, 2012, when Jameson was arrested for (and later convicted of) DUI after plowing her Range Rover into a utility pole in Westminster. But while making the rounds promoting Sugar in New York very recently, she gave interviews where producers of at least two programs thought she was on something. Guess the wake-up call didn't come those mornings; she and her peeps blamed the bad outings on fatigue, not imbibing.
