More OC Anti-Black Harassment: Rossmoor Residents Sic Cops on Nurse for Walking While Black

black_people_oc.jpg
Stay classy, OC: any time we report on any incidents of harassment against OC's miniscule African-American community, people go crazy--not at the racism that still lurks here, but at those being harassed. So I can only imagine the comments that'll soil our pages after readers get through the following letter written by David Lara of Rossmoor, in which he states that an African-American nurse who's taking care of his ailing wife was harassed by an OC sheriff's deputy after a resident called to complain about a "suspicious" person. We believe David, who's been sending around this email--but how many other folks in OC will? And how many former Orange County Register readers will leave their nasty comments on this post and our Facebook page? Stay classy, OC! Anyhoo, onto the hate...

Walking While Black In Rossmoor
By David Lara

During the past four months, my wife has been battling cancer. Assisting her on the home front during this time, has been her certified nurse assistant, Tiffany. She walks with my wife around the block and if my wife can't make it, Tiffany walks our 14 year old Maltese mix "Ernie".

This morning while walking our dog who was in a halter and had a visible six-foot leash,Tiffany was stopped by the Orange County Sheriff Department. The deputy asked her what she was doing and she replied "I'm working". Tiffany was dressed in the appropriate nursing uniform. The deputy then requested her identification. At this time, Tiffany again asked "Why, what am I doing that's wrong?" The deputy demanding her identification made Tiffany feel belittled and embarrassed that the Sheriff would stop her for walking a dog on the sidewalk.

Upon investigation, it has been discovered that the Sheriff Department was notified by a Rossmoor Resident that a suspicious person was letting their dog run loose off leash and that the person was taking pictures of residents' homes.

We would like to inform the caller that we have seen the sign throughout Rossmoor that states "If you see something call". The sign fails to mention that they are not referring to a Black woman walking in Rossmoor to immediately call the Sheriff and lie to them concerning her activity.

A few Rossmoor Residents have already showed their dislike for minorities by harassing, with acid bombs, another Black executive woman. In addition to the acid bombs, there was harassment at her residence causing her to give up her lease and move out of Orange County.

To the caller and racist who placed this call, if you are wondering what Tiffany was doing all you had to do was say "Good morning" and introduce yourself. She is a friendly, hard working and intelligent individual.

Please know that it's not a crime to be Black and walk on a sidewalk in Rossmoor.

No, it's on the northern border. And although I often have a lot of skepticism about these claims, I can definitely believe Rossmoor has had these problems. I've read a lot of their homeowners actually had "lawn jockeys" in their front yards until the 1990s.

So as I read this latest story of criminal racists in the Big OC, I reach into my storehouse of almost endless OC law enforcement criminal act anecdotes, and here is one almost identical in nature OCWeekly readers.

So in 1997, when my Colombian fiancee arrived here, I moved from my own home in Garden Grove to an apt. in Rancho Santa Margarita in order to keep my soon to be wife as far away from the police Chiefs and cops of Garden Grove and Anaheim (Knee/ Gaston era). This is when I learned how much of a just-following-orders-set-of-lemmings both Brad Gates and Mike Carona actually were.

Both my wife and I are Hispanic but because of our butt white skin coloring we can easily pass as two white people in OC. Rancho Santa Margarita back then was even more quiet and comotose then now. You could walk along the darkened streets and hardly see anyone on foot (especially because street lighting was barely in place lol). You had a greater chance of seeing a wild cat before seeing a person actually walking on the streets at night. Just as we were arriving home one night (via foot) a white male Orange County Sheriffs deputy pulls up to us barking a question as to whether we had seen an Hispanic couple yelling anywhere. This could have easily escalated if I had responded in a smart mouthed manner but instead I just calmly said no and he drove off. You couldn't hear a pin drop that night. The notion that a couple of people were yelling outside was laughable - that they would be Hispanic even more laughable. And just so you understand the context, this vectoring of police / fire personnel towards me via fake incident calls for the purpose of harassment has occured endless times. If this had been just a once in a blue moon incident , I of course would have thought nothing of it. This is just one example of many illustrating how a cop or deputy in Orange County is lured into a targets space via some false 911 call-in (in my case by criminal law enforcement leadership). Since this deputy left the scene quickly after my response , it lead me to believe he was as set up as my wife and I. Sometimes your cops / deputies are in on the harassment act and sometimes they are used as pawns.

Can't speculate on who the caller was in this latest Rossmoor incident. All I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt is that your law enforcement community in Orange County CA uses confidential informants to phone in fake emergency calls for the purpose of vectoring a cop towards a target; the objective - creating a problem for the target. Sort of like cheating your way to award winning arrest statistics and/or manufacturing a civil rights harassment event.

I was reading your prior story on another hate crime incident in Rossmoor. I wonder if Sandra Hutchens of the Orange County Sheriffs Department (LMAO) or the Orange County Human Relations board (LMAO X 10) investigated this one any further.

Oh wait a minute, I forgot. Hate crimes including attempted murder are permissable against minorities in Orange County CA. Isn't that correct Hutchens, Carona, Gates, Raney , Polisar , Knee , Quezada, Welter , Baker, Gaston and friends from the CHP and FBI.

Bernie Madoffs except with less ethics because at least Bernie has never been accused of murdering one of his victims in order to keep his disgraceful life going (or aiding and abetting the coverup of such acts via participation in the criminal harassment of said victim - pick your choice idiots)

I believe David. I live in Cypress and read the crime blog in the Los Alamitos News Enterprise. Every week under Rossmoor's section, there are reports of "suspicious" people or someone who is "unfamiliar to the neighborhood."  They usually end up being maintenance or utility workers. One time I read how someone called the cops because they saw a couple of men loading bags into the back of a vehicle at a fast pace. (!!) Geez, maybe they were running late to the airport? That call checked out okay, as one of the men lived at the house where the car was parked in front of. Among many other ridiculous calls to the police, I'm sure there were some that were legitimate. I realize that there are a rash of robberies in that neighborhood from time to time. It's one thing to be observant of something very suspicious like someone breaking a window. But to call the cops because an African-American woman in a NURSE'S UNIFORM is walking a dog?! The nerve of those callers is shameful. I hope David Lara gets this letter into the Los Al Enterprise.

This is an act of discuss, very few people that live in the OC are not this way. I mean the person calling must of been one or was seriously jealous of the young lady, most white folks hate everyone anyways so who really cares anymore. You can't change them, you have to just avoid them and react in the same manor! The mayor from Los Al that sent an email showing watermelons infront of the White House has resigned and it takes quick acting skills to remove these type of people from leadership rolls!

I believe it. I just moved to Cypress this year and read the crime reports in the local newspaper. Every week under the Rossmoor section, there's reports of "suspicious" people or those who are "unfamiliar to the neighborhood". Most of the time it turns out to be maintenance or utility workers. Oh and don't even think about trying to peddle your wares in that neighborhood. Pick up a copy of the Los Alamitos News Enterprise if you can. These people are ridiculous.
