OC Register to Publish Newspaper of Pedophile-Friendly Organization (aka Diocese of Orange)

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it: pedophile protectors don't bother me one bit"
Has Orange County Register owner Aaron Kushner's push to be journalism's Jesus gone to his head to the point where he now actually thinks he's every newspaper's Nazarene, the media Messiah, the copy Christ (okay: no more alliterations)? Apparently so: earlier this month, it was announced that the throwaway magazine arm of Freedom Communications, Churm Media, will publish the official newspaper of the Diocese of Orange, Orange County Catholic, starting next month.

Cool! So Kushner has no problem printing the paper of an organization that protected pedophile priests for decades, who's still trying to screw over sex-abuse victims, and who still employs John Urell, a pedophile protector that should've been cast into Gehenna long ago. REAL positive journalism there!

The official blurbage claims Churm will only "oversee the newspaper's design, printing, ad sales and distribution while the diocese and the Orange County Catholic editorial team will oversee development of the content," which we all know is a crock since the report also sneaked in the nebulous line that "the Churm group also will oversee expansion of the newspaper from its current once-a-month publication to a weekly publication"--code for "We're putting on kid gloves with the Diocese since they're going to pay us mucho dinero to print their rag."

How long until Freedom announces they're publishing the newsletter for NAMBLA?

Good to hear this. But I wonder how this newspaper is going to start. I hope they have the best printing house in the world. Publishing a news paper is not an easy thing to do. You have to have the best printing materials for this.

I know it's hard to believe sometimes, but you ARE better than this, OC Weekly.

How convenient for the Diocese of Orange and the timing of this newest business venture is NOT coincidental, personal opinion of course.  We can all be assured that the OC Register will NOT cover any of the trials of current or former Diocese of Orange employees that are accused of SEX ABUSE against minor children.  Is this why the trials of former JSerra Catholic High School Ricardo Aldana, and former Servite HS teacher Zachary Reeder (accused of pretending to be a girl on facebook to get high school boys to send them nude pictures) are repeatedly continued, without public explanation of the OC District Attorney.

In fact, Reeder was arrested in April 2013 and still hasn't entered a plea at an arraignment... one continuance after another!  Way to go Diocese of Orange, another money-making strategy to keep the truths away from the public... a disgrace!

It's always very troubling when a news outlet partners with an organization known for being in the news for all of the wrong reasons. It's even more troubling when that paper is the Orange County Register and the organization is the Diocese. I hope that Mr. Kushner pursues truth and unbiased reporting over profits and that members of the Register newsroom DO NOT create editorial for the Diocese of Orange.

As the former altar boy of the year of Our Lady of Pompeii Church 1977 in the little Italy section of Manhattan who took the Catholic religion seriously enough that I was considering the priesthood to the exent that I was actually practicing the mass in my bedroom and who read the Bible from cover to cover not once but twice and who served in enough masses , weddings and funerals to cover me for several lifetimes ... I believe that I can state this with a high degree of certainty.

Protecting little boy rapists is inconsistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ. It leaves the impression that you care more about the gig than the message.

Oddly enough in the same way that acting like mafia trash while wearing a police badge is inconsistent with the job of professional law enforcement officer.

Here's the bad news. Performing occasional good deeds won't wash away your sins. It would be like thinking that a broken clock, which is correct twice a day, is actually a clock. But of course, criminal clergy and criminal cops don't really believe that after life thing. So rape and pillage away and here's hoping you don't get caught in this life ;)

And may God continue to bless HD quality videotape.

Churm Publishing also was about to start publishing The Watchtower

but the Jehovah's Witnesses balked when Kushner wanted them to drop off advertising circulars while going door-to-door.

@JBinOC Kushner doesn't know where the door is (or the porch).  The Register barely makes it to the driveway.
