Anaheim Hills High School in NRA T-Shirt Flap was Infamous "Señores and Señoritas" Campus

Even the school mascot's PC!
When I saw the headline about an Anaheim high school apologizing to a student who was forced to remove her National Rifle Association (NRA) t-shirt, I thought to myself, "It can't possibly be the same Anaheim high school that caught shit last year for its 'Señores and Señoritas' event that had students dressing as gang members, border agents and pregnant women pushing baby strollers."

Wrong again, Mateo!

Canyon High School Kids Dress Up as "Mexicans" and Border Patrol Agents; School Officials Get Mad

Haley Bullwinkle apparently grabbed the NRA tee without thinking much about it on her way to Canyon High School, where she is a sophomore who had worn the tee on the Anaheim Hills campus before. But this time she was confronted by a school official who told her to take it off lest she face disciplinary action for violating school policy. She was handed a school shirt.

The incident prompted Bullwinkle's parents to write the school principal, concerned that their daughter's free speech rights may have been violated. The white tee shows an American flag, a silhouette of a hunter with a rifle and the slogan, "National Rifle Association of America, Protecting America's Traditions Since 1871."

Hell, the 16-year-old should have received extra credit for showing interest in American history. Instead, all her parents got was a crummy letter from Principal Kimberly Fricker stating the school's dress code prohibits clothing that promotes or depicts violence, criminal activity, anything that's degrading to ethnic values and "anything that is divisive or offensive to a staff member."

"The administration reserves the right to restrict any clothing or accessories that in our judgment detracts from the educational environment of Canyon High School," reads the policy.

But on Thursday, the school apologized to Bullwinkle and informed that campus staff will be trained so that "an incident like this does not occur again." Fricker had apparently been swayed by actually seeing the shirt as well as the statement to the media from her boss, Orange Unified School District Superintendent Michael Christensen, revealing, "The student will be permitted to wear the shirt."

Between receipt of Fricker's original letter and the apology, Bullwinkle's parents had contacted the NRA, whose attorneys had ringy-dingy'd the school and the district. If only the lobbies for raising student test scores had such immediate power.

The real interesting thing, to me anyway, is this was the same school that produced sights like this last year (and years before, apparently):

At least school officials are consistent: As the Mexican-in-Chief our Gabriel San Roman reported at the time, administrators quickly had the faux Latinos and Latinas and border patrollers remove their offending garb. The district superintendent didn't even have to weigh in; indeed, no school or district officials said a peep at the time, at least not to the Weekly.

So if some Mexican kids across town at Anaheim High dress up like White Trash, I can trust the administrators to step in? Got it...

Oh wait...

Well first of all, there is NOTHING wrong with wearing an NRA shirt... so that doesn't even need to be addressed... 2nd... I'm Cyn High like everywhere else, has a sizable amount of Mexican kids and they didn't seem to care. It looks like they were poking fun at rubes. If I saw some Mexican kids ragging on our trailer trash, fuck... why would care? Why would I be offended? Get over it!

Ru gonna tell me that mexico isn't full of messed up poeple that r dishonest and corrupted? Its fucked up, I have friends that live there and they're not safe, they're hard workers, not everyone there has a decent job though, and not everyone that comes here dreams of having a good, non corrupted life. Maybe you've been kept away from the bad here but its time u open ur eyes and see that most people of any race do not have good intentions and are really only looking out for themselves, ur lucky to meet some good one that r worth ur time.

The Mexican people that kill other Mexican people with guns are far worse than kids dressing as Mexicans.

I agree not all white people are racist nazis who hate blacks, jews or the native Mexicans. Most white people are but not all, theres few whites that are good people.

that school is fascist about everything, i went to and graduated from there. I was one of the "punks", they always would tell us not to stand near the front of school at our spot just because that is where all of the people get dropped off and it "made the school look bad with your mohawks and raggy clothes". so know what we did? we carved up the tree at our spot with a bunch of our names and bands and funny shit. was an epic win for a few years til they chopped the tree.

Disgusted that I live there. Thank God I went to Villa Park H.S. But ignorance, in and around Orange County, to those that practice it, will never disappear; Oh OC, you need to evolve and grow up, open those eyes... It's my home, but we don't always have to feel pride in our homes... Disappointed Anaheim Hills, ugh...

I am glad this was cleared up as I am not sure how NRA depicts violence, criminal activity, anything that's degrading to ethnic values, as stated. Wow, "...anything that is divisive or offensive to a staff member." Anyone else attend public high school? The staff is offensive. Canyon is not too far from my house, driving past there before or after school proves that is the least of their worries regarding dress code. I hope they enjoyed the fax from our office regarding this issue yesterday.

Oh, I get it, I dont agree with either the nra shirt or the dress up as criminals and low lifes situation. But I don't think all mexicans r like that, there's some hard working good people with morals that r mexicans, there's few but its still fucked up to generalize them into the messed up kind of their country.

@Traci King The NRA is nothing more than a propaganda machine which perpetuates myths about self-defense and home protection in the name of keeping gun sales brisk in the midst of thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children shot dead by people who obtain guns because of gun show loopholes and NRA blocking even the most sensible restrictions.
