Scrubbing In is the Latest MTV Reality Show Set in Orange County. God Help Us All.

MTV, which started the "reality" series affliction that still infects Orange County with the debut of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County on Sept. 28, 2004, has a new "reality" series based locally coming soon.

But Scrubbing In does not follow privileged coastal teens chasing tail and spin-offs. Instead we'll get "the behind-the-scenes trauma and drama of a group of nine traveling nurses who've been relocated to work at a hospital in Orange County, CA."

Based on the opener page photo, not all the nurses are Filipino! (Wait ... MTV said this was about nursing, right?) And based on cast member names, some scrubbing in are dudes. We'll be introduced to Tyrice, Chris, Fernando, Adrian, Chelsey, Michelle, Crystal, Nikki and Heather.

Some of these folks will have left their hometowns and lives in Pittsburgh, PA, for short-term contracts at an understaffed* hospital, with the added benefit of exploring a new city. Other nurses in the cast are experienced relocaters who'll mentor the newbies.

[*See this clarification from the network: "MTV Reels Back "Understaffed" Description of Mystery OC Hospital in Scrubbing In Show."]

Scrubbing In, which is set to premiere at 10 p.m. Oct. 24 (check your listings), is executive produced by Mark Cronin and Joel Rodgers from Never Nominated and Shannon Fitzgerald and David Osper of MTV. Janay Dutton and Nick Predescu are the executives in charge of production.

The series is one of two new MTV reality shows. Big Tips Texas, which debuts Oct. 9, is about a handful of girlfriends working together at a local bar just outside of Dallas. The point of both programs, according to the former music television network, is to show diverse groups of young people dealing with diverse workplaces.

Yeah, whatevs, just tell us who the new Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are.

We need to know which episodes to avoid TiVo-ing.

This mess was filmed at the hospital I work at. It is such a joke. Does not depict what "REAL" nurses do every day. I would not let these so called nurses put a bandaid on me. They lowered the staffing ratio for them. Allowed them extended lunches and breaks. They stated on the preview that they take care of "critically ill patients". hahaha... They worked on an observation floor and tele floor taking care of the "walkie talkies". Nothing critical there. many special accomodations were made for this. They even staged an inservice day for a heli-pad landing and had an simulation with a pretend patient for them to film. Again not real.  Came into work wearing tons and tons of make up. Not one real nurse at that hospital wears that amount. What is sad is that they are painting an image of nursing that truly does not exist and the public will start to think real nurses are like that.

Please sign this petition to let MTV and the general public know that we are NOT okay with this portrayal of the nursing profession. The social lives of these nurses should NOT be associated with the roles and responsibilities of a nurse, and gives way to sexual objectification and further disrespect to the field. This "quest for ratings" severely compromises everything that nurses worldwide fight for on a daily basis; respect, professionalism, and advocacy. A show that attempts to depict the "realities" of nursing does NOT belong on MTV!

Saw them taping at Wild Goose a few weeks back, everyone looked bored... No reflection on Wild Goose, just the cast. Even the MTV production people where complaining about MTV reality shows.

I am also a nurse in Wisconsin. I just saw the first episode and was curious as to how much of their work was staged.

@Amanda Sigel I can't find that establishment using a Google search. Can you clarify the full name of the hospital, please?

@Amanda Sigel Years ago, I took someone experiencing stomach problems there. Hope it's much cleaner for the cameras than it was back then.
