RIP Racky...
The OC Weekly hereby announces a reward for anyone who can provide us with information that'll lead to the arrest of the monsters who destroyed our news box during the Huntington Beach riots.

Its name was Racky. It served us for nearly 18 years. It had two days until its retirement. And it's now...gone. And while the Huntington Beach Police Department is busy arresting anyone and everyone who vandalized Surf City that day, they've yet to find the assholes who beat up on Racky again and again and again.

Here's the tape, starting at around 10:40. And I just noticed something: while the rioters knocked down the Orange County Register news box with ease, they heaped the most abuse on Racky--yet she never buckled under the pressure. Battered and bruised, but standing plain and tall--what a metaphor for journalism in Orange County!

Who was that pasty pounding pendejo?
And here's the main abuser. Recognize him? If you do, you can contact me at garellano at ocweekly dot com, or call us at (714) 550-5900. If your information leads to the arrest of this idiot, we'll give you $250, let you take over ¡Ask a Mexican! for a week, give you a T-shirt, tickets to our awesome Decadence food free-for-all, write a story about you hailing you as OC's greatest civil-rights hero since the Bernals, get your picture in the paper (or, if you want to remain anonymous, get a picture in the paper of the person or business of your choice) AND get free OC Weeklys from the rack of your choice. FOR LIFE.

So what are you waiting for? Be a snitch for your favorite infernal rag! Operators are standing by--drunk, but standing by!

That is unless you've been robbed by an unscrupulous lawyer that took you for your salary for 13 years and then left you sitting on the streets with nothing because of her behaviors and the behaviors of others. But I walked out because of these things so am I to blame? And I got arrested for it too. Falsely I might add.

Looks like the Police started it to me. Instead of turning against angry citizens why dont you hold the police accountable?

There you go!

"80 percent of all cops are criminals and violate the laws while they are on duty", And they are being paid to do so and be so. Criminal cops and thugs agains the citizens, Look what happened in Anaheim.

Better make sure they don't change the name to the OC Snitch from the OCWeekly.

Huntington Beach resident Anthony Abadier, 20, was arrested at his home on Aug. 11, according to police. Abadier reportedly used his skateboard to smash newspaper stands.  Maybe it was this fellow?

I knew Racky, and worked with Racky.  Racky pulled me out of more shit than my lawyer would ever let me tell you about.  And Racky taught me more about journalism in the first few weeks than I learned in 4 years at one of the most prominent and esteemd J-schools in the nation.

I suppose, if Racky had to go, this is the way she would have wanted it:  In the middle of a breaking story, with idiots running around drunk and committing acts of violence and vandalism for not one decent damned reason in the world, but for the fact that they're idiots.  Just like any war zone, really, but without the principle, the cause and the sense of justice.

Thanks for everything, Racky.  We're all lost without you, but better for having known you.

Are you kidding me Klavito?  You've gotten more than enough page clicks off this to pay for a whole line of racks.

The video tells you everything you need to know about sandhead culture.

My apologies that you are going through this. I hope that an Informant comes forth to help in resolving the matter soon.

So obviously remote controlled facial recognition drones won't work, they had a pic of the guy and still can't find him. Sweet.

I was hoping there might be a TK Burger gift certificate, but this being the budget-challenged Weekly, I'll settle for an enlarged 'Lottery'-style TK Burger gift certificate.
