Kathia Maria Davis, Hockey Mom Convicted of Sex with Son's 16 y.o. Teammate, Gets Time Served for Lewd Acts with Second Boy, 14
Kathia Maria Davis, the 46-year-old hockey mom who admitted sexually assaulting a 14-year-old teammate of her son in her Laguna Niguel home, was sentenced today to time already served behind bars.
Previously convicted of sexually assaulting another 16-year-old friend of her son's, Davis is expected to be released from custody next week.
She faced a maximum of seven years and eight months in state prison heading into today's hearing. Davis was technically sentenced to 18 months in jail for the crimes against both boys. She also must register as a sex offender for life.
"Holding all this in as a child forced me to grow up in ways I never wanted to," read a victim's impact statement told to the court today. "She took the things that I loved most and ripped them out of my life. I will never know what could have been."
The third time was a charm last month for prosecutors trying to convict Davis of having sex with the 14-year-old teammate of her son as two other attempts ended in mistrials.
A jury found Davis guilty on Aug. 9, 2012, of having unlawful sexual intercourse with the 16-year-old on four occasions in her bedroom between July 2010 and July 2011. She would give him alcohol, and at one party at her home she let her teenage daughter join in the drinking as well.
The boy eventually told his mother about the sex, which led to a report to the Orange County Sheriff's Department and an investigation that turned up the 14-year-old male victim. Davis copped to four felony counts of lewd acts on a child for her contact with the younger teen.
Her previous conviction was on four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for boozing up her daughter and the 16-year-old.
