Andrew Chavez Held for Being One of Four Who Kidnapped Huntington Beach Man in Norwalk
Now, I don't know what would prompt a man who met two ladies in a park to follow them, but if the fellow was hoping for a, um, happy ending to this story, he did not get one.
According to sheriff's deputies, the fellow wound up being kidnapped and robbed.
After the encounter at Walnut Park, the Surf City dude wound up in the 15400 block of Longworth Avenue, where he was confronted by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, according to LA County sheriff's deputies.
The sap was ordered to hand over personal property before he was tied up and detained briefly, said deputies, who added he was later released and told to go to a certain location to pick up his vehicle. But the vehicle was not there, so the man called the cops.
The victim was able to tell deputies where he had been held captive, which led to the Longworth Avenue address where four occupants were told to come on out so the fellow could I.D. his kidnappers.
But only one of the four was involved, according to deputies, who identified the suspect they arrested as Andrew Chavez, 38, of Norwalk. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment and a weapons charge and held on $100,000 bail.
Deputies say they are still looking for the other man and two women.
