Earthquake DOES Jolt Costa Mesa: Update

ORIGINAL POST, JUNE 4, 1:47 P.M.: Did anyone else just feel that?

About five minutes ago, I felt a quick jolt under my feet followed by what sounded like someone running across my roof.

Someone on the other side of Costa Mesa confirmed they, too, felt an earthquake.

Check back for updates.

UPDATE, JUNE 4, 2:27 P.M.: According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGA), a 2.5 earthquake centered in Costa Mesa struck at 1:39 p.m. today.

The USGA tracks quakes around the world that are 2.5 or greater on the Richter scale.

The Imperial County town of Niland near Salton Sea was struck with a 3.6 shaker at 12:46 p.m. today, according to the USGA.

I was sitting in class with other students and everyone, including the instructor felt it. I think it was two jolts that lasted a couple of seconds, but at first we wondered if it was something else. Thank God it wasn't more intense.

felt the wall sound like it slightly cracked and waited for the REST...ended quickly so I thought I was wrong haha

I was playing the piano in my classroom at my school in CM. I thought a truck hit the trash can behind my room!


It didn't like a normal earthquake, but I definitely felt it.
