LGBT Groups Angry That Harvest Crusade's Greg Laurie is Part of National Day of Prayer

Tomorrow, the National Day of Prayer is scheduled to happen in Washington, D.C. featuring a who's who of homophobes, retrogrades, and flat-out liturgical losers. Yet the person who's gotten the attention of LGBT activists surprised that Christians don't like dem gays is Greg Laurie of Harvest Crusade.

Laurie is going to be more than just a holy roller: he's the honorary chairman of the Task Force and is scheduled to deliver a prayer at the Pentagon tomorrow morning

According to the conservative Christian Post, "homosexual activists" are targeting Laurie because he's anti-gay.

"Pastor Laurie's message is out of step with what the majority of people of faith across this country believe," was the quote that the Christian Post got from Dr. Sharon Groves, director of Human Rights Campaign's Religion & Faith Program. "In greater numbers than ever before, people of faith are feeling compelled to speak up and organize for equality--because of their faith."

Laurie, of course, vows to stay on and preach the gospel of love--for everyone except the gays, of course. Betcha he won't mention that one of his inspirations to become a Christian was the gay Lonnie Frisbee...

It should probably be noted that Lonnie Frisbee, "one of his inspirations," had not yet 'come out of the closet' back when he had an influence on Laurie. But then again, I guess haters don't really need to be factual to prove their point.

Seriously, who needs this loser's prayers. I am better off with them.

Lets just abolish government altogether while we are at it, and have a witch hunt on anyone who thinks being gay is wrong. I am always open to all point of views even its completely against what I believe. Gus writes the most biased and instigating articles, which has reminded me why I've lost respect for him years ago.

Greg Laurie is a wonderful pastor/evangelist and is an excellent choice to lead the National Day of Prayer. end of story

Gus wrote it. I ask AGAIN...."When was the last time you were in an non-denominational church Gus?" My guess is maybe once in your life. That makes you an expert on Christian Theology. Every time you assault Christian beliefs, you lower the journalistic value of OC Weekly that much more.

This is so biased. Yes gay people do deserve equal rights. But Christians also have the right to their beliefs. Are people really trying to take away the right to pray for someone? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me. And if someone doesn't even beleive in a god then prayer is the most benign form of protest. C'mon guys somewhere out there, there are real hate crimes going on, not this whiny "they're gonna PRAY for us!!" bs.

Who cares if he is anti-gay? He is allowed to believe what he wants. Just because you disagree does not mean you should be bigot.

I think the person who wrote this made himself look like a complete ass. How can you even take the article seriously when the author is so biased....NEXT! Go write for Star mag. Why don't grow some balls and go ask Greg Laurie himself. And no I'm not a Christian...
