I and my family members have lived no more than half a mile from Anna Drive since the late 1980's. The neighborhood is predominantly, Hispanic, working class community that like many overcrowded neighborhoods has its fair share of criminal activity. When I first moved to this neighborhood, I was shocked at how the Anaheim PD would dangerously speed up and down Acacia Ave. because it was a residential neighborhood where children rode their bikes, chased their balls or siblings into the streets. Even with sirens blaring, children can't be expected to quickly respond to a police car coming at them at eighty miles an hour

. I did call Anaheim police once when a homeless, schizophrenic man was harrassing school children walking home from Edison Elementary School. Anaheim police's response to my call was "Is he blocking traffice? If not then he has the right to be on public property." Yes, I recognize the man's right, but does he have the right to menace six year old children? My point in telling my observations, of which I have more, about Anaheim PD is it shows a callous indifference to the neighborhood of Anna Drive. Most of us work, pay taxes, and lead moral lives. It is very disconcerting for our police force to arbitrarily execute a member of our neighborhood in an alley without benefit of judge, jury or trial to prove his innocence or guilt. Since when was the right to life usurped by police department's belief they need to make society safer for whom?

A statement like this coming from Orange County District Attorney probably seems a bit biased to the general public. If there actually is ‘significant evidence’ justifying the officer’s reaction, make it visible to the citizens of Orange County as well. Manuel Diaz was shot dead for a reason that is still vague. Since it involves a police officer charged with such a severe criminal offence, this statement is only adding to a feeling of insecurity and frustration. They need to give us much more tangible evidence than this concluding statement that was not as grounded in fact/evidence as it should have been.
