The Laughable Racial Double Standards of Kris Murray, Anaheim Council-Pendeja

Anaheim City Councilwoman Kris Murray is one of those hilarious Republicans who insist we live in a color-blind society, who rail at people who bring up race as Aztlanistas and political opportunists--and who turn around and do the same thing when politically convenient and decry any criticism as racism.

Take a recent move by Murray that switched out her delegates on an Anaheim advisory committee to determine whether the city should have district elections for city council. Murray has been downright contemptuous of the idea of district elections, claiming the idea reeks of racialism. So what did Murray recently do?

She brought on the racialism, baby.

One of the people she appointed was Sandy Day, who has publicly gone on record as not only being against district elections, but also against being the Latina that she is. "It breaks my heart that today is a day when so much emphasis is placed on skin color," she told the Anaheim City Council last year.

So what did Murray do? In a press release that appeared solely on the blog of favored Republican hack (and apologist for pedo-priest protectors) Matt Cunningham, Murray made sure to note that Day is "a resident of Latin American descent."

"Latin American descent"? What the hell is this--United Nations Day during the 1950s? But Murray did this to not only shield herself against accusations of racism, but also to show that Latinos are against district representation, so therefore, no one else should be, either.

When the Dems do it, it's polarizing; when Murray does it, it's American democracy. My, is my beloved hometown fucked up right now. . . .

Is it the actual skin pigmentation level OR.. the cultural norms/beliefs/behaviors that TEND to accompany the various pigmentation levels?

In my multi-decades of life my experiences has been that most folks care most about behavior!!!!

A decent, civil person respectful of other and their rights is usually welcomed!!!

Be a self-centered brute who demands that others cater to him/her and show no respect to others.. well... it is that behavior that is abhorred, not the skin.

If separate districts are a good thing, how about separate cities. Surely Anaheim Hills has nothing to do with the flatland in terms of economy, demographics, etc. Heck, it's over there in the East, barely hanging on to Anaheim proper by a thread.

Secession for Anaheim Hills, now more than ever.

Gustavo - you should read what her appointee Keith Olsen has said about council districts.

That isn't racialism. And it for sure isn't a pro-white analog to your pro-"Latino" agenda,* capullo. It's just more of the typical groveling to the brown folks that all white politicians do.

*And what's the problem with 'Latin American descent'? That is supposedly what 'Latino' is supposed to mean -- otherwise WOPs would be 'Latino', and no-hispanoparlante Mayans and god knows what else we are getting from Southern Mexico now wouldn't be.

"When the Dems do it, it's polarizing; when Murray does it, it's American democracy."

Well, she can delude herself if she wants, but it's polarizing no matter who does it (D or R). Shame on Ms. Murray.

@Mitchell_Young Hey Mitchie, whatcha gonna do with the Mexis and other minorities who live in the Hills. Aren't they going to ruin your secessionist Whitopia vision!

@Mitchell_Young Oh, isn't that sweet—you have a cherubic gabachito as your avatar. How does it feel knowing his sister will no doubt marry a Mexican? And PLEASE lead a secession movement for your beloved Hills—let's see how it performs without that fat Disney/Honda Center tax base!

As Bugs Bunny would say "Mitch" What a maroon!!!!!!!!

Actually Gustavo, there is no magical Honda Center income for Anaheim. They pay  into the pot only after their highly profitable business makes above a certain amount, and to date they have yet to meet that magical money mark. It is the Resort's surrounding hotels that pay into the TOT pot, which Hills would be missing. (Disney hotels TOT goes 100% to bond repayment so General Fund sees none of those bucks.) Someone much smarter than me did tell me the calculations add up, that Hills pays more than they draw, but I have not seen the numbers. Frankly I think it would be a good idea, only because I am sick of the bickering back and forth, and perhaps standing on our own civic identities would help us get along better. Good fences and all that.
