The Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County is scheduled this weekend to honor the Frank Ospino, the county's Public Defender, as "Attorney of the Year."

During the March 2 event at the group's black tie 35th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Installation Dinner labeled "Planting Seeds For A Better Tomorrow" at the Disney Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, Ospino will be presented with his award.

Ospino is the first Hispanic to run the Orange County Public Defender office, where he has worked for nearly a quarter of a century and is known for his tenacity in defending low income citizens in criminal matters.

He is a UC Irvine graduate and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California's Hastings College of Law in 1984.

The bar association's event will hold a 6 p.m. silent auction and cocktail hour followed an hour later by the dinner presentation.

He's the one who approves baseless appeal after baseless appeal for convicted criminals. The PD drags criminal cases through the courts subjecting victims to relive crimes against them over and over. They play games and cause delay after delay. They put the victims on trial and lie to judges. Then, when they don't like the sentence their criminal client receives they throw a temper tantrum and appeal it. The PDs completely work the court system and judges in favor of  criminals.  And guess who gets to pay for all that nonsense? The tax payers. It makes me ill.

And he is a great, great attorney, and a nice guy, dedicated to his clients.  I have seen him in court many times, and he is always very professional.
