It won rave reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, as had Doremus' Like Crazy, which won the Grand Jury Prize two years earlier, and Douchebag, which co-starred Ben Jones. Doremus' debut film Spooner, which Jones was essentially an extra in, made its premiere down slope from Park City in 2009 at the Slamdance.
"In a few short years, Drake Doremus has established himself as an important and exciting filmmaking voice with Like Crazy, Spooner and Douchebag, and we're thrilled to be on board for this next impressive step in his career," Gary Rubin, executive VP of Cohen Media Group, tells Deadline Hollywood.
A full theatrical release of Breathe In is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
