[UPDATED with 70 Victims:] Zachary Joshua Reeder, High School Coach-Teacher, Allegedly Posed as Girl Online to Get Dirty Pics of Boys
The charges are stunning because when the Irvine Police Department announced Reeder's arrest Sunday, there was no indication the suspect had made physical contact with a boy. His victims were said to be as young as 14.
Meanwhile, detectives are trying to determine if Reeder, who has taught history at Servite since 2008, preyed on any other children. Anyone with information is urged to call Irvine Police Detective Frough Jahid at 949.724.7184 or Supervising District Attorney Investigator Anthony Sosnowski at 714.834.8794.
Besides facing a maximum sentence of life, Reeder would have to register as a sex offender for life with a conviction, according to the DA's office, which intends to seek $3 million bail at his arraignment.
UPDATE, FEB. 18, 8 A.M.: Zachary Reeder managed last week to post the $1 million bail a judge set just as dozens and dozens more alleged victims came forward.
Seventy alleged victims have now contacted authorities or been uncovered by the investigation since Reeder's Feb. 9 arrest.
Some of the new allegations come from a third school the 30-year-old has now been linked to: Capistrano Valley Christian High School, where Reeder taught history and coached baseball.
Boy students accuse Reeder as posing as a girl on Facebook to entice the chaps to send "her" sexually explicit photos of themselves.
The married father now has 140 felony counts against him.
