ORIGINAL POST, FEB. 15, 3 P.M.: The Orange County Sheriff's Department is conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Lake Forest starting at 6 tonight, while Costa Mesa kicks in with its own two hours later.

Neither the deputies nor the Costa Mesa cops are saying where in the cities the operations will be conducted.

The Lake Forest checkpoints runs from 6 tonight through 2 a.m. Saturday, while the Costa Mesa hours are 8 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday.

Friday night kicks off a three-day weekend for those--unlike Weeklings :(--who get Veterans Day off Monday. And both operations get those law enforcement agencies in the swing for previously announced anti-DUI details for St. Patrick's Day in March.

These deals are paid for by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

UPDATE, FEB. 18, 2:48 P.M.: The Costa Mesa Police Department released the following results from its Friday night checkpoint at Baker and Bear streets:

502 vehicles passed through.
502 vehicles were screened.
6 field sobriety tests were administered.
1 DUI-alcohol suspect was arrested.
1 DUI-drug impaired suspect was arrested.
7 drivers were cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked.
0 other citations issued (unrelated to uniicensed or suspended/revoked license).
0 non-DUI arrests (warrants, felonies, etc.).
5 vehicles were sîored or impounded.
