Chris Dorner Affidavit: Randal Quan Called Irvine Police the Night His Daughter and Would-Be Son-in-Law Were Found Slain
That tidbit is contained in a search warrant affidavit released Monday.
No media outlet had yet released the names of Monica Quan and her fiance Keith Lawrence that Super Bowl night when Randy Quan, a retired LAPD captain, called the watch commander from his Walnut home to say his daughter resided in the upscale condominium complex at 2100 Scholarship, Irvine. The dad worried because he could not get ahold of her.

Monica Quan was in a "somewhat fetal position" with her head face down in the passenger's seat and her legs and feet beneath the glove box, according to the affidavit, which indicates Lawrence was in the driver's seat slumped to his right with gunshot wounds to the neck, left shoulder and back of the head.
The motive for the slayings remained a mystery until Dorner's "Last Resort" manifesto was published online the next day. In it, Randy Quan is blamed for working in the LAPD's interests while representing Dorner before the disciplinary panel that would ultimately recommend the new trainee's firing. The 11,000-word document kicked off several tense days for Southern California law enforcement that by Feb. 12 ended with the deaths of Riverside Police Officer Michael Crain, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Detective Jeremiah MacKay and former La Palma resident Dorner.
Monica and Keith were memoralized at Irvine's Concordia University on Sunday.
