Joshua Alexander Evans, Ex-Teacher, Gets a Year for Hugging, Kissing 14 y.o. Girl Student

A former English teacher whose booking photo from early last year had him looking like a Die Hard villain pleaded guilty today under a plea deal to inappropriately kissing and hugging a 14-year-old female student.

Joshua Alexander Evans, 33, of Fullerton, was promptly sentenced to a year in Orange County jail, three years of formal probation and mandatory lifetime registration as a sex offender.

Between December 2011 and January 2012, Evans groomed the girl for a relationship beyond their classes at El Rancho Charter School in Anaheim Hills by sending her texts and emails and playing online games via his cell phone. He met her at least three times at another student's home, and on two of those visits they kissed and embraced one another.

The 14-year-old's mother learned of the relationship and reported the crime to the school, which in turn contacted the Anaheim Police Department. Evans was arrested in Fullerton in February 2011.

He cut a plea deal that had him copping today to two felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a child between the ages of 14 and 15.
