Huell Howser Died of Prostate Cancer

Golden Californian Huell Howser died at his Palm Springs home Jan. 7 of complications from prostate cancer, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Health.

So reports TMZ, which claims to have obtained a copy of the longtime public television host and producer's death certificate.

Howser was cremated and had his ashes spread off the LA County coast, TMZ adds.

Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge was scheduled to host a public memorial this  afternoon for the longtime California Gold host at the Griffith Observatory. Shuttles are set to whisk fans, family and friends to the observatory in time for a sunset memorial.

Looks like Huell ordered himself up a beautiful day.
