There is a #VoteWhite Hashtag On Twitter and it's Just As Sickening As You'd Expect

Keep Calm-O-Matic
As intense and nerve-racking as it is, Election Day always brings a sense of civic spirit, with folks Instagramming their "I voted" stickers and dressing their poor pets in red, white and blue sweaters. Democracy! Yeah!

But then you stumble upon shit like this and once again start questioning the value of free speech.

Here are 10 tweets urging people to #votewhite. Seriously.

Stay classy, America.

Oc Weekly is suppose to be a fun magazine that lets us know where to get the best slice of pizza or what BAND is making a comeback. Please stick to what you know. Let's the real magazines worry about politics. I'm shocked that you even have the green light to post such ridiculous things using the Oc Weekly title, for shame! I say for shame!

I follow ORANGE COUNTY. and youre starting not to represent it with the daytime bashing of your own cities residents and your high school level journalism. I moved here from LA and its a great place to live. But ts still southern California. And yeh i follow you, and i can follow you anywhere.

And OC WEEKLY: another straight off the shelf overly done weak jab at white radicals. Whites support ur paper and The County, so why dont u grovel along after black or other radical. Your paper is lately starting to really SUCK.

@formu1fan *shrug* There's a #VoteBlack as well, though not quite as terrible as #VoteWhite seems to be...

There are dozens of groups dedicated to getting [blacks, 'Latinos', Asians] to register to vote, and to vote for their racial/ethnic politicians. Why is it bad if whites do it?

Sure the slurs are tasteless, but I'm pretty sure you can find the equivalent -- well hell, right here. 'Gabacho', coffin dodger, I'm sure if I did some digging I could find a 'cracker' or two, etc.

For example, the Chen fellow that keeps spamming us received money form some 'Asian-Pacific' PAC or something or other.  Here is an event, right there on the Obama website, to get 'South Asians' to register to vote.

Again, if other ethnic groups are allowed to mobilise in their own interests, why not whites?

@Mitchell_Young There's already a huge group dedicated to furthering the desires of wealthy, older, white people: it's called the GOP. I'm assuming you voted for their candidates.

@Mitchell_Young There is a huge difference. Groups trying to get minorities to register to vote are working towards the goal of getting these non-assimilated ethnic groups more involved in our government. They are not preaching dominance of a particular race and are not degrading any other races.

Go back to the OC Register comments where you belong.

@Dave_Lieberman First Dave, that is a subset of whites. A very small subset. But even there, the GOP bends over backwards to attract 'minority' votes. Look at Rubio, Ted Cruz, Allan West, etc. They can belong to the Republican party. On the other hand, when Pete Stark tried to join the Congressional Black Caucus, he was rejected.

BTW you might just as well say there is a huge group dedicated to furthering the desires of wealthy older whites, the Democrats. Look at the wealthier districts of Connecticut, Westchester County New York, no doubt a lot of New Jersey. Full of bankers and wall street types. Deeply 'blue', deeply white, and I'm pretty sure they know which political party serves their interests.

@Big_Ed_Can I reject your double standard.

Politics is about power and using that power to transfer resources. Hispanics, Asians, etc want more power to benefit their own groups, and since power is zero sum that necessarily injures other groups -- especially those who, like whites, fail to see what is right before their eyes.
