Mendy Brown, OC Homicide No. 43: Wife and Dog Believed Murdered by Husband Who Then Killed Himself on Halloween

Laguna Beach Police are dealing with three shooting deaths--husband Michael Brown, wife Mendy Brown and the family dog--that they believe are the result of murders followed by a suicide on Halloween. Bodies of all three were found after a co-worker of Michael Brown's went to check on the 49-year-old Wednesday night because he failed to show up to work.

The unidentified co-worker entered the home in the 800 block of La Mirada through an unlocked door before finding the bodies and calling 9-1-1 just before 5:30 p.m., according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.

A handgun was recovered near Michael Brown's body, say police, who believe he first killed his dog and 47-year-old wife with it before turning the weapon on hilmself.
