Not all earthquakes are the result of Mother Nature, a television program proposes tonight.

At 7 p.m. and repeating at 10:30 p.m. on KCET/Channel 28, SoCal Connected correspondent Jennifer London follows up last season's investigation into the controversial drilling procedure known as fracking, which some believe may be responsible for triggering deadly earthquakes on the West Coast.

Used to extract oil and gas buried below, fracking injects highly pressurized water, sand and chemicals into cracks and then re-injects waste water back into the earth.

For her report, London speaks with a Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal Resources representative as well as Josh Fox, whose Oscar-nominated documentary Gasland helped bring fracking to light. Fox is now looking at Inglewood, Baldwin Hills and Whittier and large urban oil fields that sit on major fault lines to see if fracking and earthquakes can be linked.

Last March, the news program reported that a lack of governmental regulation or industry cooperation on fracking may leave Southern Californians unaware whether the next earthquake will be earth- or manmade.
