Stuart Carson, 73, faced up to 10 months in prison following a 2009 federal grand jury indictment and an eventual plea bargain, but U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna sentenced him to a 4-month prison trip.
Carson must also pay a $20,000 fine.
Hong (AKA Rose) Carson, Stuart's 48-year-old wife, participated in the scheme and was given three years of probation, according to federal court records.
Carson's Control Components, Inc. based in Rancho Santa Margarita designed, manufactured and sold around the world its service control values for nuclear, oil and gas, and power generation.
Federal prosecutors with the U.S. Department of Justice have already won a conviction in the case against Paul Cosgrove.
According to court records, dispositions are pending for others charged: David Edmonds, Flavio Ricotti and Han Yong Kim.
Selna gave Carson, who'd been hoping his advanced age would win him nothing worse than probation, until noon on May 31, 2013, to surrender to prison officials.
