Which way to the you-know-what?
1) 90742, Sunset Beach, $2.17 million;

2) 92657, Newport Coast, $1.9 million;

3) 92662, Newport Beach, $1.7 million;

4) 92625, Corona del Mar, $1.45 million;

5) 92661, Newport Beach, $1.4 million.

Of course, there's something to be said for combined might. Take all the areas in incorporated Newport Beach and its sphere of influence, and you have the most expensive place in the U.S. for the past two years, according to Coldwell Banker's annual "Home Listing Report." (Hat tip to Home Buying Institute.)

Speaking of sphere of influence, Sunset Beach last year was annexed into much larger Huntington Beach. So, technically, according to Trulia, the most expensive zip code in OC is in Surf City.
