Paul Wilson, Husband of Seal Beach Massacre Victim, Pushes Gun Control Petition

The husband of one of the eight people killed in last year's Seal Beach massacre has started an online petition aimed at getting a gun control measure on the ballot.

"Christy's Law," named after the late Christy Lynn Wilson, 47, of Lakewood, would prohibit anyone involved in a child custody dispute in California from buying a gun or accessing any firearm in their possession, says the late mother of three's husband, Paul Wilson.

Police say Scott Evans DeKraai, 42, of Huntington Beach, was armed with three handguns the afternoon of Oct. 12, 2011, when he allegedly went to Seal Beach's Salon Meritage to settle a child custody score with his ex-wife Michelle Fournier, a 48-year-old hairdresser there. Among those DeKraai could get sentenced to death for allegedly killing are Fournier, 62-year-old salon co-owner Randy Lee Fannin and Christy Wilson, a salon nail specialist and friend of Fournier's who had just testified for her co-worker at a custody hearing in court. The judge had ruled against DeKraai. (Also slain were: Victoria Ann Buzzo, 54; Lucia Bernice Kondas, 65; Laura Lee Elody, 46; Michele Daschbach Fast, 47; and David Caouette, 64.)

DeKraai, who is being held without bail, has pleaded not guilty to Orange County's worst mass killing.

Paul Wilson is relying on Change.org for his online petition, and this is not the first time he's sought change after the tragedy, having last year sued DeKraai for wrongful death. Fournier's family filed a similar lawsuit, but neither is expected to be heard in civil court until the criminal case is completed.
