[UPDATED: Cunningham Already Censoring!] Save Anaheim, OC Weekly's Best Blog for 2012, Inspiring Scorched-Earth Campaign From the Curt Pringle Machine

Updated, with new information on the bottom...

ORIGINAL POST, OCT. 16, 6:30 A.M.: Well, this fucking rocks: the very week where we named Save Anaheim the best blog in Orange County for our annual Best Of issue, the minions of former Anaheim mayor Curt Pringle wage an all-out war on its author, Jason Young.

As we reported yesterday, Matt "Jerbal" Cunningham, the infamous hack most famous for outing sex-abuse victims and defending notorious pedophile-protector John Urell has started a propaganda machine for the forces of the Dark Lord (at right), who wants to turn my hometown into a fiefdom from which he and his consultants can make millions of dollars off of backs of serfs, helped by their Latino monkeys.

In the past two weeks, Cunningham has devoted three posts to Young, with yesterday's being the nastiest: Cunningham revealed where Young lives, his personal business as a photographer, and dug up a criminal case in which Young pleaded guilty to a couple of felonies involving credit cards that were knocked down to misdemeanors (more on that in a future post)--as if any of this has to do with the quality of Save Anaheim's reporting, of which Cunningham could only whine engages in "character assassination. He also grumbled that we deemed Save Anaheim as the county's best blog because we "bestow [the award to] blogs that are nasty and vicious toward people and entities the Weekly dislikes."

Oh, Matt's just sore because we gave Best Blog for the past two years to Friends for Fullerton's Future, who gave him the Jerbal nickname on account of his sniveling personality and outed him as a big-government lover.

(And the felony bit? That qualifies Young to run the OC GOP, or the campaign of a congressman--right, Rhonda Rohrabacher? And it still pales to the hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars-plus fines Pringle and GOP head Scott Baugh had to pay for their crimes.)

It's telling of how powerful Save Anaheim already is that Pringle's pals convinced Cunningham (who reportedly rents space from Pringle) to wage war against Young--his "stories" are being spread around via email by members of SOAR (Support Our Anaheim Resort), a PAC of losers that Cunningham once fought against, which shows just how craven the two sides are in the quest for the almighty dollar and should put to rest any claims Cunningham might make about just, gee golly, really being into Anaheim politics.

There you go, fellow Anaheimers: the people who rule you despise the truth so much they're willing to intimidate a dissenting voice by telling you where he lives. Who will step up to join Young in the TRUE revolution?

UPDATE, 10:25 A.M. Well, this is fucking hilarious: Matt Cunningham has deleted all the comments I left on his blog outing him as a sex-abuse victim outer. He just can't stand that I keep bringing up this sordid episode from his past.

Of curse, this isn't surprising. Cunningham has a funny habit of deleting comments made by people who point out his hypocrisy and pedo-protector spinning. In 2007, he launched a website defending Urell; when sex-abuse victims went on to criticize his hideous support of a man who shielded child rapists from the law, Cunningham merely deleted his comments. Man has the skin of garlic--and the stench of his ways is worse. Tee-hee!

Matt Cunningham is running the FF campaign in orange that turns the Ridgeline Golf Course into housing. He works for the developer who bought the property as it was designated as open park space by the citys general plan. Before he started working ( on the books) for the developer. he was a planning commissioner in orange and he led the vote to to change the general plan to housing.

Matt Cunningham outed sex-abuse victims.

Gus, people have a right to know who's fighting battles in their own neighbourhoods. Remember when the residents of Anna Drive ought back against the outside groups from LA, don't these white guys have the same right as well?

From what I've seen, the people that you hate so much are the ones responsible for all the investment in West Anaheim. In my opinion, their leadership is responsible for convincing developers to invest as much as they have in West Anaheim. I find your outrage extremely confusing and misplace.

Also, can you stop with the mexican racial slurs? I know you mexican and that's your shtick, but it's getting old. It's starting to feel desperate and it's not going to sell any more of your books.

"Cunningham revealed where Young lives..."

"Revealed"? It's on the Internet, bonehead.

"...his personal business as a photographer..."

Except that it's not a secret what he does for a living, Gustavo. Anyone who reads Jason's blog and then Googles him will find out what he does in a few seconds.

", and dug up a criminal case in which Young pleaded guilty to a couple of felonies involving credit cards..."

That has the advantage of being true. He even served jail time for it. Let's see: since Young is on Gustavo's approved list, he benefits from the double-standard treatment. It's OK, for example, to attack one blogger (me) for my business, but it is wrong to mention what aother blogger (Jason) does for a living. Or it is OK -- in fact, it is applauded -- for the approved blogger to make unsubstantiated accusations of corruption and vote-selling, but pointing out a documented fact about Young that speaks to hhis unreliability is terrible.

Not only do you need to hire a fact-checker, Gustavo, you need some sort of consistency editor -- because you are failing at both tasks.

Really tasteless cover -- a real travesty for the men (all men) who landed at Normandy (or Iwo Jima, or Guadalcanal or Anzio).

Next time why don't you ship some cutesy Asian models out to Manzanar have photograph them living it up at a fake rave?

Wow, this is the same guy who wanted to meet me back in 2005 because he said I provided the best coverage of Orange County politics, with OC Blog? [I realize that is no longer your official version of the past, Gustavo, but it has the advantage of being true - an alien quality in this rag, I know.]

But anyway, thanks again for promoting Anaheim Blog, although you did neglect (again), to give the URL (more of that crackerjack OC Weekly reporting): http://anaheimblog.net/

@paullucas714 Hey Paul, more people means more housing must be built. More people is from immigration (near 1,000,000 nationwide per year (about 1/4 to California), legal, plus illegals). You don't like developers running roughshod over the last of our open space in SoCal, you should work with groups like Californians for Population Stabilization, NumbersUSA, etc.

@ShinMazaki "people have a right to know who's fighting battles in their own neighbourhoods"

Well, I look forward to seeing a counter-blog written by an *actual Anaheim resident*, then, versus a blog-for-hire written by a hack from Orange.  Matthew Cunningham's new found interest in any Anaheim neighborhood ends as soon as the last check clears.

Say what you will about Jason Young -- while the SaveAnaheim blog has definitely come across with some useful info, he seems like kind of a tool -- at least he's got skin in the game.

@ShinMazaki And here comes Cunningham's peanut gallery. Spare us the laughter!

@mcunningham Matt: You take money from clients, spin blog content and then fail to inform the public that you've been compromised. From that gutter perch, you go on to shamelessly attack professional journalists who call you out for such lousy ethical practices. This conduct is par for the course. But what's really pathetic is your uncalled for attack on the woman who represents the survivors of people sexually abused by priests. She wasn't saying that YOU would molest one or both of your daughters. (I don't believe for one second that you would...) She was saying that given your documented protection of a dirty priest long after his sex crimes were obvious, she fears that you might go easy on a priest who molested a member of your family. (Again, I don't think you would go soft in such a case.) You were terribly callous in the prior historical event because that victim wasn't related to you and so you couldn't summon one iota of sympathy. And that's sad...

@mcunningham We only deal in facts; you deal in whiny cries for your clients. You can look it up! By the way, how is your beloved Urell nowadays? Still breaking down over the thought of defending rapists? This alone proves you have no morals whatsoever, so go ahead and spin to your heart's content; at the end of the day, you outed sex-abuse victims and defended a monster. And you're STILL using sex-abuse victims even as we type—pathetic.

GustavoArellano
GustavoArellano moderator editortopcommenter

@mcunningham And it was then; and then you ruined it with your hackery, kind of like what Greg Diamond did with Orange Juice. Shall I name the names of conservatives who despise you, up to and including your former bloggers? Besides, all the whining you do still doesn't change the fact you outed sex-abuse victims and stood up for a pedophile protector—and that's something us Weeklings have never done.

ShinMazaki
ShinMazaki

@GustavoArellano  @mcunningham "that's something us Weeklings have never done" are you really suggesting that you're tough on crime?

Gus, you post mug shots of individuals regardless of innocence or guilt. You mock human beings based on their appearance when they are at their most low. Gustavo, you are responsible for destroying lives simply to get more hits your website.

 @GustavoArellano

It's bad enough that you lie to readers, but do you have to lie to yourself? OC Blog content didn't sudddenly change. What changed was you got pissed off at me, and so you had to switch your official editorial view of me and my blog. The way you re-write history is straight out of Orwell. Go ahead and name those names, Gustavo -- I really don't care, especially about some former bloggers of mine who I plucked from obscurity, provided a platform and supported them against others who pressured me to kick them off Red County, and who then went on to routinely crap on me. They're your kind of people, Gustavo.

@ShinMazaki  @JackGrimshaw Wait, found it. Sorry, son, but that was one ugly mugshot. But tell you what: when I'm arrested, mine'll be uglier!

ShinMazaki
ShinMazaki

@Dave_Lieberman  @GustavoArellano  @mcunningham Right now, 5 of the top 15 stories on the OC Weekly page feature mug shots. OC Weekly has a weekly feature entitled "ugliest mugshot of the week", how can gustavo expect to be taken seriously as a journalist when he has his staff combing through mugshots for pure entertainment value. These arrests are news because the oc weekly runs them as news.

Lieberman, how can you defend Gustavo at all? I think Cunningham is doing him a favor by even acknowledging Gustavo's existence.

Dave_Lieberman
Dave_Lieberman

@ShinMazaki  @GustavoArellano  @mcunningham Arrests are news, bright boy, alt weekly or not, and generally mugshots go along with that. Haven't you ever seen a story about an arrest in the Register?

Further determination of guilt or innocence is usually a new story as well. As for destroyed lives, be glad you don't live in the rural Midwest, where names, home addresses, infractions, and fines even for traffic stops make the newspaper.

ShinMazaki
ShinMazaki

@Dave_Lieberman  @GustavoArellano  @mcunningham Yes, jackass, which is exactly the point. The weeklies take particular pleasure in posting mugshots regardless of guilt or innocence and especially if its a sex crime. There have been several instances of posted mugshots of people later proven innocent. There's no retraction, just a destroyed life.

Dave_Lieberman
Dave_Lieberman

@ShinMazaki  @GustavoArellano  @mcunningham Are you unfamiliar with when a mugshot is taken? It happens as part of the booking process after arrest—which, if I remember my high school civics classes correctly, is before the trial, which determines guilt or innocence.

Yeah, I do deny it becasue it's not true. During the seven years I did OC Blog and Red County, I blogged about one issue in which I was involved professionally -- the SunCal-Disney fight.Keep trying, Gustavo. The broken clock is right twice a day, so you're still due for two today!

@mcunningham  @GustavoArellano Former bloggers of yours that you "plucked from obscurity"? Give me a break. Make it rain, Mr. Cunningham!

That $158M TOT giveaway pissed off a lot of rank-and-file Anaheimers, Cunningham. Your golden boy Brandman is hitching his wagon to that engine; you can create all the small-scale tempests in a teapot you like, and it won't change the fact that he looks like continuing to spend a hell of a lot of our money in a way we don't like.

Also, get someone to teach him to shake hands like a man.

@mcunningham OC Blog didn't change? Please. You turned it into a forum to blog about clients—or are you now going to deny that as well? LOVE your comment of said bloggers "routinely crap on me"—spoken like a spurned lover!
