Elizabeth Cuevas Villanueva, the craziestex-girlfriend ever, was sentenced today to 17 years in state prison after pleading guilty to hiding in the back seat of her estranged boyfriend's Mercedes-Benz parked in a church parking lot and, after he climbed in, repeatedly stabbing him with an ice pick in the head and shoulders. In fact, the guy had to drive and crash into a tree to stop the attack in an incident that did not seriously injure either Benz occupant.

Villanueva, 49, of Yorba Linda, had a handgun and an ice pick on her the morning of Aug. 30, 2010, when she hid in the back seat of her ex-boyfriend's Benz in the parking lot of Messiah Lutheran Church in the same town. He got into his car and started to drive off when Villanueva went all horror show on him.

He crashed the Benz into a tree and managed to escape. Villanueva darted off on foot but was followed by witnesses who subdued her and called 9-1-1 before Brea cops arrived. One Good Samaritan sustained hand wounds. The unidentified ex-boyfriend was treated at a local hospital for non-fatal stab wounds.

By pleading guilty to one felony count of attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury and the personal use of a deadly weapon, one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and two felony counts each of aggravated assault, Villanueva avoided a possible life sentence if she fought the conviction and lost.

So she's not totally crazy.

That hide behind the back seat actually worked, and not just in horror movie.
