A 15-year-old boy riding his bicycle through a residential stretch of the 2000 block of West Myrtle Street in Santa Ana Sunday evening was shot to death by someone in a passing vehicle.

Two gang members who police have linked to other recent shootings in Santa Ana are now being held for the murder of Jimmy Hernandez.

After being struck by at least one round, Hernandez stumbled off his bike, tried to walk away but collapsed before police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

For reasons not yet released, the police gang unit immediately zeroed in on Brian Jose Miguel, 18, and Alberto Santana, 20, both of whom are now in custody.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact Santa Ana Police at 714.245.8665.
