Human Trafficking is a very serious matter in epidemic proportions.

"Victims of sex trafficking are frequently beaten, raped or even killed for any reason. Child victims have high mortality rates due to the poor treatment they receive."

Virginia Isaías, Founder of Orange County based Human Trafficking Survivors Foundation (Fundación de Sobrevivientes del Tráfico Humano) is a kidnap victim and human trafficking survivor.  She was kidnapped and trafficked along with her then 6-month old baby, and trafficked by an organized ring, which trafficked women and children.

She saw women and children dismembered or killed, to keep other victims compliant.  The victims blood was also analyzed for black market organ sales.

Per law enforcement statistics, most all of the teenage prostitutes are violently forced into prostitution.

A very high-risk factor for a teen-age runaway to end up being prostituted is if the teen-age ran away from home at least 4 times in a 12-month period.  The tragedy is that the teenager was running away from a dysfunction or abuse at home (physical, emotional, psychological or sexual), and then they end-up being abused and prostituted.

So our focus at is Prevention and assisting survivors into successful Reintegration into society.

As usual they show white girls, whereas in OC the vast majority of the so-called 'trafficked' girls are Asian. Heck, it would be great to be able to get a 'happy ending' from a hot romanian instead of some indistinguishable, 5' 0" Thai.

BTW I use the 'irony quotes' on "trafficked" because I know researchers who have, you know, interviewed these girls. The vast majority of times they know exactly what work they will be doing -- though often living conditions and/or pay is an issue.
