Another successful mission for Boeing
A highly experienced Systems Engineer who claimed The Boeing Company illegally fired her because she is female has lost her March 2011 civil rights lawsuit inside the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse in Santa Ana.

Maria Wu of Los Angeles had hoped to defeat the Chicago-based, international defense conglomerate for allegedly masking pro-male personnel moves that caused her to lose her $119,500 a year job in 2009.

As proof, Wu claimed that men given reduction in force notices were eventually kept and that she was denied five separate promotions given to her less qualified male colleagues.

Boeing, which makes Air Force One for the president, denied any wrongdoing and asked for summary judgment in their favor on all eight of Wu's contentions.

U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter this month determined that Wu's lawsuit did not contain adequate allegations to proceed to trial and granted the company's request to end the case.

"The plaintiff's evidence is either inadmissible or irrelevant," Carter opined in his Aug. 22 ruling.

Stephen M. Padilla of Seal Beach represented Wu while Andrew Keith Haeffele and Daniel F. Fears (both of Irvine) handled Boeing's side.

I wonder what amount Boeing offered to end this case early?  She probably wishes she had taken it.
