Steve Chavez Lodge, Anaheim Council Candidate, Gets Sued Over Reclaiming Latino Surname That He's Never Used Before

steve_chavez_lodge.jpg
Esteban Chavez
People should've been suspicious of Anaheim City Council candidate Steve Lodge long before he decided to rebrand himself as Steve Chavez Lodge in a callous bid for disenfranchised Mexi voters. He's endorsed by former Anaheim mayor Curt Pringle and arch-pedophile-protector apologist Matt Cunningham (who infamously published the name of sex-abuse victims), and quotes Ronald Reagan on his Facebook page as if membership in the OC GOP depended on it (which it does!). He's a family values type of guy whose current wife is about 15 years younger than he is. He's a carpetbagger whom property records show has barely lived any time in the very city he says he wants to represent.

And now? Pendejo is named in a civil lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court saying he's an opportunistic liar--which he totally is.

Filed by badass Anaheim activist Cynthia Ward against OC Registrar of Voters head Neal Kelley, the lawsuit claims "the use of the name 'Chavez' appears to have been adopted recently for political purposes" because Lodge's legal name doesn't include Chavez--he owns no property under that name, and isn't even registered to vote as such.

Lodge's response? "I've always used Chavez," he told Voice of OC reporter Adam Elmahrek, even though that's his legal name

LIES. A Nexis search of articles written about him show not one of the more-than-a-few articles about Lodge EVER mentions "Chavez." His work email uses "stevelodge@pendejo.com" as its handle (okay, so the pendejo part is fake, but I do want to spare Lodge a bunch of trolls...for now). He's registered to vote as Steve Lodge--where was the Chavez then, Steve?

Where does the "Chavez" come from? For that, we turn the story over to his brother, sports broadcaster Roger Lodge, who was born Rogelio Chavez. Roll the tape!

Lodge, 52, was born in Fontana and grew up in the Cerritos-Lakewood area. His given name was Rogelio Chavez, and when he was 3 his father left the family. Roger's mother remarried a man named Robert Lodge, and he became dad to Roger and his two older brothers and older sister.

Cool--so Steve is so desperate for Latino votes that he's using the name of a father who left the family? REAL classy there--am sure your mom is thrilled with that choice, Esteban!

Let's hope Ward wins her lawsuit, and Lodge goes back to the carpetbagger bin from whence he came...

P.S.: Before Know Nothings point it out--yes, yes, Loretta Brixey pulled the same shit as a failed 1994 Anaheim council candidate when she brought out the Sanchez for her successful 1996 congressional campaign. Wrong then, wrong now; now, return to your circle jerk from whence ustedes came...

There is only been one woman until know that I have felt sorry for when she birthed and that was Jack in the Box Jack's Mom dealing with Jack's humonogous Head but Know that  we have the elephant trunk nose man Reade. Wow his poor mom can you just Imagine how she must of felt giving birth to a baby that there nose weighed more than the rest of there body. Has any one ever  interviewed any of his family. I know he was homeless and lived in his car a lot ,

Hi Gustavo! Can you complain about more successful people? I just enjoy listening to you complain! James Robert Reade

It is pandering and he should be rejected. If he felt so strongly about using Chavez, he should have updated his official documents, but he didnt. Now, I cannot trust a politician, of any ethnic background, who feels the need to run on race, instead of merit.

Thanks Gustavo for pointing it out.

Gustavo

Have you seen this Clown in his same old suit he wears week after week and check out his payless shoes with no socks. This clown gave me a twenty minute interview wait until I am done with the interview.

Reade does have one thing going for himself and it his his big nose what a honker and his need to stick it in latinos business and to cowardly attack grieving Hispanic mothers. I have two noses both red like Reade's not quite as big thou. Has anyone seen this guys honker he even makes this clown jealous of the size.  One of my noses flashes and the other Honks but no one has the gurth that Reade has on his honker. By the size of his nose he looks like a anteater and probably couldn't breast feed as a kid because it got in the way so he never bonded with his own Mom and never got enough love and know hates women

I can't help myself adhomien attacks on a clown like Reade are well deserved

His name is James Robert Reade 100 W Midway Dr. Anaheim. He has pulled his sick crap on many of the poor grieving mothers. There are others. I  wish you would put all the tapes together and show him for the coward he really is.

I don't know why the spineless Mayor Tait allows his outburst he should suspend him for a year from council meetings. What Mr Reade pratices is Westboro Baptist hate speech. I also heard that he got beat up by the Anaheim PD sued them for $50,000 won the suit and know works with them.

As should be expected Reade is not only a active supporter of the militarized Anaheim Police department and recently gave a $1,000 check which they gladly excepted by there union prisedent.

But he has convied to me that he also supports Disney in every way possible. The thing I find most interesting about Reade is he says he is not prejudice yet every other word out of this clowns mouth is about Hispanics.

Gods speed to healing the many mothers, family members and friends grieving there loss

I salute Cynthia Ward for her gallant efforts. It takes a lot of guts to file a law suit against a Homocide Detective of 22 years. Although in politics perception is what people mostly seem to go on.

Steve Chavez Lodge a 22 year homicide Detective for the Santa Ana PD and is not what Anaheim needs neither is  a homosexual by the name of Jordan Brandman who is just another Disney prostitute. No Homicide Detective or no homosexual.

Does anyone know how Disney has been able to manipulate Anaheim politics and voters for so many years and get away with it. Is it that they have bought the OC Register with advertising dollars  so the Register  turns a blind eye.  Anaheim belongs to the voters not to special interest and the people need to get educated. Google "Disney corruption"

The lawsuit is frivelous and may backfire it should of been filed by a Hispanic, Latino or Mexican to have maximum effect..  If you want a good lawsuit go after the bumb for his record at Santa Ana PD. The case is called Net news they ask for a PRA Public Records Act that allows citizens or the media under the PRA to obtain confidential records of a police officer who is running for office. It may protect the public at A later sate from a violent or terrible  person like LODGE.

Every Police officer that I have ever known in politics has been bad for the people. It's a conflict of interest in my opnion. It's all about the Blue line. A good example is San Bernardino County Sheriffs LT. Slick Sick Rick Roelle who is running for County Supervisor. The video is on my web site www.etsnell.com (Slick Rick Rick Roelle)

Joe: Candidates must run under their legal name, or show that the nicknames they choose are commonly known in the community. Look at it this way: if a conservative wanted to run in Newport Beach as "Ronald Reagan," he'd have to prove that was his real name!

OC Weekly First off she is a moderate. She was straddling the whole time. Second, hispanic people who are raised in their culture with their language are entitled to profit off of their name when it suits them. How many have been disenfranchised because of it? If she didn't give her maiden name, then most of the hispanic voters would probably have ignored her. She shouldn't have to remind every person she meets that she's the daughter of mexican immigrants. Simply hearing her name is enough to get the idea going. This was a smart move. It was her maiden name, an identity she did use legally for a good amount of time. As for Lodge, he wasn't raised by mexicans; He didn't even try to reconnect with the community until what, near middle age? Big difference.

Q: Why did Steve Chavez Lodge read a prepared statement to voters about his once taking Bursátil/Dist Caracol Zona del Río onto Paseo de Los Heroes. continuing onto Vía Rápida Pte, exiting onto Vía Pte, taking a slight right onto F.c. Sonora Baja California and then a sharp right onto 20 de Noviembre, following by a slight left onto Blvrd Salinas/Prol Paseo de los Heroes and staying on Blvrd Salinas until a sharp left onto Blvrd Agua Caliente/Consulado, then a slight right onto Blvrd Agua Caliente/Consulado/Tapachula, which he followed until he turned left onto Hipódromo/Tapachula, then right onto Tapachula, then took the 2nd left onto Mérida/Tapachula, and finally turned left onto La Paz to get to Tijuana's Hipodrome? A: He wanted to tell them about his Mexican routes!

Q: Why did Steve Chavez Lodge accidentally say that he was running for the *Albuquerque* City Council? A: Because he wanted people to think that he was a New Mexican!

This article has some bs about Loretta Sanchez. She was born to mexican immigrants and kept those ties with her family. She used her married name when she first ran then she used her maiden name. This is a choice that is acceptable for all women. She could identify with her Hispanic roots unlike this Lodge guy, who seemed to ignore it.

My grandmother is an actual "Chavez".  She cleaned hotel rooms at the Disneyland Hotel when it had three floors.  Mr. Lodge and I have a similar skin tone. I don't need to claim my grandmother's last name (and it was she, that raised me most of my life) to have latino street credit.  And I don't need it to have Anaheim street credit either.  The people in Anaheim should be represented by people from Anaheim.  And last name does not imply ethnicity, which shows how moronic that notion is in these modern times.

"Lodge's response? "I've always used Chavez," he told Voice of OC reporter Adam Elmahrek, even though that's his legal name "

C'mon Klavito -- you can do better than that if you really try -- as it stands the sentence makes no sense.

Aside from that, what I'm getting from the story is

1) Typical Arellano confused self-righteousness -- giving James Vanderbilt stick for *not* using his Mexican mother's name, yet giving this guy stick for using his father's name.

2) Ethnicity and race matter in politics, or else Lodge and Brixley wouldn't be pulling this stuff. But if Mexicans are going to vote based on ethnic solidarity, whites had better wake up and do the same.

3) White people are generous to a fault. This idiot white man spent his time and money raising the children of a Mexican deadbeat. He would have been better off finding a women to bear him his own children.

@GustavoArellano The headline is wrong on that post. Didn't Loretta Sanchez do something similar when she ran for Congress?

@Mitchell_Young Actually, I put those errors for you just so you can feel useful in this infernal digital rag. As for Vanderbilt-Linares? The same point I make for Lodge remains...
