See the update at the end of this post with news of his body found.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 27, 4:25 P.M.: Adam Razani honorably served in Afghanistan from 2011 until earlier this year as a technician for the Air Force, where he enlisted in 2008 after finishing at Saddleback College.

And now he's missing in Trabuco Canyon, near Trabuco Creek.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department currently is searching for Razani, but friends fear he has committed suicide due to disturbing status updates and photos he left earlier today on Facebook and on Instagram.

Friends reported him missing at 11 a.m. this morning.

He left the below status update just five hours ago:

Much more disturbing, however, was the below Instagram photo--Razani with a gun, and titled "My final photo":

In 2011, Razani left a comment on a Los Angeles Times obituary for Omead H. Razani (unrelated), who died in Iraq in 2011. "Its so crazy to hear that a Razani has died in the war, someone who I've never met," Adam wrote. "I am also a Razani and I am deploying to afghanistan. I hope Omead's family has coped with his loss peacefully, and hopefully I will be able to come back in one piece myself."

Let's pray everything turns out okay for Adam...

UPDATE: AUG. 27, 8:55 P.M.: Adam's body was found today. The manner and location of his death has not yet been released. We will update with details as they come in. Here are some things his friends have to say via Facebook:

I lost a friend in the military (he died right in front of me) and also a friend who was in the reserves. Some just can't handle life afterwards. It's tragic on many levels not the least of which is my fellow vets are, as a rule, great people. Most are hardworking tax paying law abiding citizens. When we lose one of these, as we have here, we all lose a piece of something good.

My grandfather has a silver star, bronze star, purple heart, etc... from Korea. He was at both heartbreak ridge and bloody ridge when it was cracking. He sees a counselor down at the VA because the ghosts of all his dead comrades come to him in his sleep and ask him "Why?" He tells them he doesn't know. He can handle it though and has lived an exemplary life since his discharge.

This young man hadn't grasped how to do that yet though in time statistics show he would have. So the ghosts of war claimed him. Another great man and American down. Tragic. Never blame him... just try to gain a better understanding to help the next one.

This is such a sad story.  He looked like a really nice guy.  I'm sorry for his family and friends.  RIP.

@James Hall - honestly what is wrong w/ you? did you know this guy? He wouldn't hurt anyone. you should be ashamed of yourself, but I am sure that you already are. For someone to get on the internet and try to muck up the memory of a good man is so low.... but it takes a special kind of person to that... the kind of person who is so miserable in their own life that they cannot fathom how to relate to other human beings. At what point did you stop to care and become so jaded that you would allow yourself to write this about someone else who has never done a single thing to you? I hope that you never do this again.

Adam was in so much pain and that's why this occurred. Were you aware of the fact that military suicides are up 22% from last year? did you know that this past month of July saw more military deaths than any other month since the wars began? Are you aware of the fact that today, suicide is the most frequent cause of death among Army forces, surpassing combat deaths and motor vehicle accidents. Adam came from an amazing family, and on top of that Adam was an amazing man. he was not a typical bro hoe. he was not a loud mouth jock. he was gentle and so sweet and so polite and so incredibly kind. He was gentleman in every single way, and nothing will ever change that. We all let this down. Our nation let Adam down. We sent him to a senseless and pointless war and we did nothing to help him when he came back.

To everyone else reading this, if you or anyone you know is a military vet who is dealing with ANY form of depression, confusion, stress, or anxiety PLEASE find one person to talk to. Please ask for help if the VA wont help. Please tell someone that you are feeling overwhelmed. Others are feeling the same exact way, I swear to you that there's nothing "wrong" with you, there's nothing weird about you. There are others who are feeling the same EXACT way and I swear to you that things can and will get better, but you have to ask for help. Your future is so bright no matter how hopeless things feel right now. You can and you will be able to start over. I promise you that.

If you have a military friend who has recently returned home, have fun w/ them, but don't just ignore what they have dealt with. Don't avoid the more serious conversations, and don't just assume that everything is okay. They have had to be so strong for so long, they need you now. Please try to get them to talk and if you suspect that they are depressed PLEASE find them proper care. Most cities and community colleges have veterans affairs offices, please call them and get referrals for low income or low cost therapists. Do research about the therapists so that they are able to go to a good one. Physically go with them to these appointments. Don't judge, just sit w/ them and listen.

Please get yourself informed and be there for your friend/family member. They have done so much for us, this is the least that we could do for me. PLEASE don't ignore the warnings, do not assume that they are okay.

Adam I am going to honor your memory by making sure that I am doing my part to advocate for better services for our vets. I am going to donate money, raise money, and when I can't do that I will simply pass this message on to anyone and everyone that I can.

Our Vets are told that “nothing is too good for a veteran”. We put bumper stickers on our cars and vote for candidates who “support the troops” but that hasn't translated into actual help for our veterans. “Supporting the troops” has come to mean sending them back to war over and over again with no clear path to victory and very little support when they come home. We have over a million veterans waiting for service from the VA because they don’t have enough staff. Budget cuts and “debt” conversations have led to a hiring freeze over the last two years. 18 veterans kill themselves every single day. Over 30 percent of our homeless population are veterans. This is an epidemic of trauma that we have in our country and our government is AWOL.

This is not a political problem. It is an American problem and we are all complicit.

Lets change this one person at a time, one community at a time. Whose with me? whose at enough?

Hey Mr. Idiot. aka JAmes Hall. keep your infantile, creep ass loser opinions to yourself. you obviously know nothing about the person youve just insulted. you've managed to insult his memory,  as well as everyone who's had the pleasure of knowing him. no one wantts or needed your opinion, and your stupid ass rhetoric, equating someone whose already dead to a spree shooter, just cuz you watch too much 5 o clock news, and was hoping to find another pair of idiots to go "yeah!" i agree with you, so u could find the absolute minimal amount of satisfaction with your ugly faced life.  you chose to share you're stupid brained  bullshit about the wrong person at absolute the worst time. unless you're immediately regretting that you even had those thoughts swirling in your pathetic fucking skull, let alone deciding to post your stupid bull shit, I would choke the shit out of you. and it still doesn't change a fucking thing. Fuck you. and die. is all i have to says

I don't see why there can't be more counseling offered to our armed forces. This could have been avoided, I'm sure of it.

Sadly, Adam passed away today. This should be a reminder that we must cherish our time with one another, because you never know when that time might be up. Thanks Gustavo for writing this article.

He should talk to someone. Emotions/moods can change. No need to rush into anything.

 @Whophantom

They can't provide for help unless the person needing help seeks it.

First they have to go in and talk to someone and tell them they are having problems with depression.
