Slidebar Cafe Hides Behind Veil of Shame On Eve of Kelly Thomas Vigil

Slidebar Rock 'n Roll Kitchen: Black curtain of shame
While friends and family of Kelly Thomas mourned the one-year anniversary of his brutal beating death at the hands of Fullerton Police at the bus depot on Thursday night, the Slidebar Cafe hid behind a mysterious black curtain.

Perhaps they wanted to shield themselves from the sorrowful sobs and cries of those who remember the 37-year-old homeless man with schizophrenia as an innocent, kind and gentle human being. Or maybe they wanted to keep away from the 100 people who showed up that are demanding answers from the bar's owner Jeremy Popoff about exactly why did his employee make the call to police that led to police showing up in the first place?

Since Popoff finally admitted last month that one of his employees did in fact call police, (See: Slidebar's Role in Kelly Thomas Killing) the Slidebar surely doesn't have a reason to hide.

Unless, of course, they are scared of the repercussions following accusations of attempting to drive out the homeless. (See: Lawsuit Claims Fullerton Manager Enticed Police with a Lie). But nah, this could not be it...

Alas, as of Friday evening, the black curtain has been taken down....like nothing ever happened.

Smooth move, Slimebar!

May J.P. rest in hell. Slime bar ought to be closed up Congrats to all their ignorant patrons who would rather toast to an occasion like this instead of supporting. How can you leep at night knowing you and your employee caused this beating.

I disagree as insight would be getting their side of the story. Nice wordplay, though.

" Why do you keep deflecting this question; how did Rusty Kennedy not know the fullerton PD systematically violated the civil rights of Fullerton's community?" I'm not aqsking for your opinion of me as a person. what is your opinion on the relationship between disgraced fullerton police chief, Pat McKinley, and Rusty Kennedy

Yeah, it's Gustavo's big fucking ears that are hilarious/ scary... Gustavo is indeed one ugly-ass motherfucker. He looks like one of those things that live under bridges--what are they called?

and since there hasn't been any vandals, or aggressive demonstrators in regards to this issue, then that would just be an unreasonable precaution. I further speculate that you already knew that though.

You sound like Barrack Hussein taking credit for singlehandedly killing Osama bin laden. So you deserve credit for taking down Carona? How???

Gloria, let us look at the wisdom you imparted in this comment. "finally, a reporter who does not tap dance" = Whether or not Amber has ever tap danced in her life really does not widen the impact of this article. I will assume you were under the influence at the time you wrote this and, in fact, possibly had a few drinks at this Slidebar prior to writing. Let's leave Amber's tap dance history out of this.  "writes that KT had a confrontation with the police" = Okay, now this IS news. I was unaware about said confrontation.  "calls this tragedy by it's name: a  brutal beating death at the hands of FPD" = I am trying to find in the article where all this you praise Amber for is mentioned. I mean this is such a short article and my comprehension of said article is that the general public should hate this "Slimebar." Further, it seems the OC Weekly staff trying to defend this horrid-piece-of-shit-of-an-article in the comment section would prefer the public go throw bricks and rocks through the Slidebar windows. Perhaps instead the public should be throwing bricks through the OC Weekly office windows. But you get an A+ for creativity.

Gloria, I find your comment of extreme interest. What is it you'd like me to tell the OC Register? That Gustavo prides himself on his yellow journalism? That ethical news articles contain both sides of the story--I'm sure they know that. That sensationalism in news stories is unprofessional? I'm wondering which of the facts I presented are troubling you. I wait for your response.
