Tomorrow, protests are being planned across the country in solidarity with the protests against police brutality and city council incompetence that has plagued Anaheim for a good decade. On Sunday, there are at least THREE scheduled protests: one organized loosely by the Occupy movement, another the regular Sunday protests organized by the Anaheim Cruzaders for almost three years, and a third one called We Are Anaheim--Somos Anaheim that seeks to strike a middle road.

And having the biggest lulz of them all, of course, is Anonymous, which kicked off their "Operation Anaheim" tonight by publishing online the home address of Anaheim Police Chief John Welter.

We're not going to post the home address or the other personal information about Chief Welter that Anonymous posted, ESPECIALLY the chief's MySpace page, since that's probably the most embarrassing part of this sordid episode. But they did put out this press release this afternoon:

Greetings City of Anaheim - Greetings Citizens of the United States of America - Greetings People of the World: We are Anonymous --

In Anaheim, California police shot protesters and bystanders including kids who did nothing wrong. We, Anonymous - are calling yet again to the citizens of the United States of America and the world to rise up in unison and defeat a government which does not value its citizens lives nor their freedoms. The safety of your families, your homes, and your future generations is in danger. The fate of the USA is in your hands. Do you wish to be oppressed further, or do you wish to obtain freedom and peace? The choice is yours.

To the police force in Anaheim, CA - we have witnessed your brutality and aggressive methods at stifling freedom of speech. We know about how you executed an unarmed man, shooting him in the back of the head while he was on his knees. We have witnessed you putting innocent women and children in danger, these actions are unforgivable. From the killing of an unarmed man, to the brutality you have instituted upon the peaceful protesters and journalists; you now have the full attention of Anonymous. We will attack and deface your web sites, raid your data, blow up your phone lines with black faxes, bomb your E-Mail inboxes, dox your officers - and destroy anything else of yours on the internet we can find. We will also E-Mail this press release and attached video to no less than 10 million people in at least 50 countries around the world asking them to boycott Anaheim, California until all these brutal police are arrested, tried - and convicted of their various crimes against the people.

To the citizens of the world, we call upon you to show solidarity with the oppressed citizens of Anaheim, California - USA. Do NOT travel there or spend your tourist dollars in Anaheim, CA. Send copies of this press release to everyone in your address book. And join us online at irc.anonops.com #OpAnaheim and help us defeat this evil and illegitimate police force.

To the citizens of Anaheim, we are with you. Stand up to the police and do not accept their brutality any longer. Keep taking to the streets. Anonymous will do everything in our power to help and protect you, the innocent from being brutalised under the repressive Anaheim police force.

Operation Anaheim, engaged.

We Are Anonymous

We Are Legion

We Do Not Forgive

We Do Not Forget

Sorry James, the city of anaheim has ignored the needs of the working community while embracing the millions that disney and it's investors bring in.  You will never understand what it is like to have no other choice that to steal just to be able to survive the growing costs of living in so cal.  regardless if you are a cop or a gangbanger, if you kill someone, you need to pay for your crime. no one is above the law.

Daniel Rowlett Vice President of Mr. Packaging in Anaheim was truck jacked and stabbed twelve times to death for his wallet by an Anna Drive gangbanger on July 4th. Three gangbangers shot at police who were patrolling Midway Drive on June 1. Police did not fire back. Police arrested all three. A gangbanger stole a vehicle and shot at police on Guinida Lane near Midway Drive on July 22. These three incidents illustrate the complete disregard gangbangers have for human life. Gangbanging in Anaheim is coming to an end! James Robert Reade.

Wow and lol. Thanks for the link below. Bob Dunn is a p#ick anyways. I bet they gonna sleep with a gun under pillow now if they didnt already. Too bad Anonymous wasnt around to help with the Rampart division of LAPD. Dont drive anywhere near there if your brown because your gonna see racial profiling to the extreme, might even get shot first and sorted out later.

And guys not all young brown people are thugs or gangsters just like not all young white boys are serial killers or theater terrorists.

Anonymous. God damnit. The last thing we need is a bunch of angry teenagers to latch onto an issue they don't understand so they can tie in into their narrative of how we are all living under a tyrannical government that needs to be overthrown, as if V for Vendetta is an effing documentary.

Here comes a flurry of immature DDoS attack which will accomplish nothing except shift the focus back to their stupid national campaign, which of course, is all they really care about.

Notice the complete lack of a call for independent investigations or transparency so that the truth can be known. Only that "all these" police are "..tried and convicted." Very helpful.

Oh, and thanks for punishing the citizens you "stand with" by calling for a complete boycott of the city, assholes.

I'm kinda bummed that they didn't use the pun "Anonymouse" anywhere in this, or at the very least, on that Guy Fawkes/Mickey Mouse mashup pic. Seems like it would have been perfect.  Oh well.

Police brutality begins with police mentality.  Anaheim P.D. is known to hire officers that: 1. Are mostly white that come from bigoted areas of the South like Tennessee or North Carolina.  2. Are former military, especially Marines, who lack proper respect for others. 3. Are power hungry. 5. Are trigger happy because they are insecure and afraid of their own shadows, 6. Live outside of the area and have no vested interest in the city.  Put that all together and what do you have? What you have is a police force that doesn't understand or appreciate the 51% Latino majority of the population.  Anaheim is more that just Disneyland. Change has to come. The sooner the better. And it won't happen by Anaheim P.D. employing violence and their only means of control.

This is completely inappropriate. Chief Welter is a good and honorable man. Posting his personal information online is stepping over a line.

From the OCR this morning--

"ANAHEIM – Anaheim police opened fire on a burglary suspect at about 3:15 Friday morning near Water and Olive streets."

Too easy.  All those systems are run by civil servants.

Propaganda. Do they realize that they're telling people to make things economically worse for the people who live here and work here as part of the tourist industry? In a time where jobs are needed, they're saying to people "Do your part to help Anaheim residents and workers starve!"? Thanks, but, No Thanks, Anonymous. We can handle this without having to send out one of the most exaggerated tellings of this past weekend's events that I've read to date. I'm on the side of people who want things to change but it MUST come from us. We have to get involved. All this that Anonymous is planning to do is going to cost our tax dollars to fix. We don't have the time or the money for this B.S. If you must do your Anonymous-y stuff then, please, let loose on the banking industry. Those guys f'd us all over more and jack squat is being done.

 @Meximando

Meximando, I have never in my 44 years on this earth, here in Orange County have I ever heard such  an uneducated, non factual, ignorant remark made by any person regardless of race, sex or political position. You should be ashamed of yourself and you certainly are a disgrace to your race, no wonder why your race feels oppressed or continues to be oppressed.

Get an education, get some facts and stop being an ass.

@Meximando Really? They hire mostly  white AND from the South? You have documentation or PROVE  that, Quick at the mouth...slow at the proof I Imagine. Are former Marines....again show proof. Trigger happy because of their own insecurities....prove that. No vested interest because they are out of city range...incorrect again!  Put that all together and what do you have .....an uninformed citizen...that;s what.

@armando46 Thug brutality begins with thug violence.  Anahiems gang members are known to recruit new members who 1)are young and impressionable and bigoted against anyone from outside their hood especially whitey 2) are former convicts, especially violent felons who lack proper respect for others 3)are power hungry 4) You skipped 4 and went right to 5. 5)are trigger happy because they are insecure and are bullys who prey on the weak. 6) Live in the area they claim and intimidate their neighbors and dont give a shit that their hood is blighted.  Put this all together and what do you have? A community full of people who are to scared to stand up to the real problem of gangs drug dealers and felons and anyone with any amount of self respect and income will move out plunging the area even further into poverty and crime.  The only saving grace for Anaheim is Disneyland and if not for those tax revenues you would be completely screwed.  Change does have to come in the form of getting rid of the gang members and criminals and if ythey want to shoot at the cops or flee from the cops while reaching for the waist band of their pants they leave the cops little other option...

@saveanaheim Indeed  It is obviously a far worse crime than for instance shooting an unarmed man in the head.

according to chief welters himself at a city council meeting in Yorba Linda; About 10% of Anaheim PD l;ive in Anaheim... which leaves 90%  living outside the city ...

@909Jeff  @armando46 There are many people in Anaheim who share both yours AND Armando's opinion(putting aside, of course, the generalizations that both of you guys stray into). It doesn't have to be a zero sum game, where you're either on the side of the police, or backing the young thugs who also want to have carte blanche over their streets. The momentum and effort is there, now let's just wait and see what the people can accomplish with it. Change the cops, the local government, as well as the culture and the community, and you'll have a better city.

Let's give the people a chance to address all of these problems in their community, and if they don't, or if only a few problems are addressed while the others are ignored, THEN let's criticize or jump to conclusions. Until that happens, though, there is still plenty of time and positivity to focus on.

There is a reason why most police officers don't live in the cities they serve. It's not just Anaheim. If you are going to involved with criminals, gang members, murders, etc., you wouldn't want them to find out where you and your family live. Not saying that everyone in Anaheim are criminals, etc., but that's why. You wouldn't want to live where you serve as an officer, either.
