"He's Still Alive!" Video Emerges of Immediate Aftermath of Anaheim Police Killing of Manuel Diaz

Anaheim police just seconds after they shot Manuel Diaz to death
See "Anaheim Police Department Kill Another Man After Day of Protests"

The Weekly has obtained a video recorded in the immediate moments following the Anaheim Police Department shooting to death unarmed Manuel Diaz.

The source (who requested anonymity) was on the scene, and audio from the video confirms what eyewitness accounts have confirmed but which police refuse to do: that Diaz was shot in the head.

The most harrowing part of the video, however, is the fact that Diaz was alive--and police stood there for over three minutes and did nothing. Instead, they seem more concerned with pushing witnesses away from the scene, the better to diminish the video quality of the footage, when they weren't actively trying to block the source from recording.

See the video for yourself:

Diaz is visibly twitching at the very beginning of the video. It's not until about 3:13 into the video that police finally turn over Diaz, whose head is bloodied beyond belief.

And another thing, PH, Everyone that has been shot to death in Anaheim by the police were legal citizens and natural born citizens...... So where do you get 'illegal'? Why is it 'you people' don't just move to a place where racisum is accepted and all 'your kind' can  just get along. I suspect it wouldn't last long though since racisum is a deases that has to be fed to exhist, and if 'your kind' are all in the same place, you'll find something else to hate and point a finger at, even if they are 'your kind'....  I hate to break your very closed minded bubble PH, but we are all together on this issue, we have grown as a people and society to embrass fairness and human rights for all, we have a smart and intellegent Black President to prove we have grown beyound simple minds like 'your kind',  and  clowns hiding behind names and photos like 'Realist'.... Thiink about it.. how does it feel to be the minority?.....  We, the majority, are raising our children to be predjudice of people like 'your kind', so move over and make room for the new peace, its coming whether 'your kind' likes it or not! And regarding the police, there are and always will be good cops out there that put thier lives on the line every darn day. Many of us have family that are out there risking everything to protect all of us, yes even small minded people like 'your kind'. We just have to make sure they have the good Administrators and Chiefs to keep up the great work. Unfortunatly some cities like Anaheim do not.....  But guess what, we all have the right to change that, its called VOTING, and I encourage this community to get out there and show your strength., VOTE!!!!

... Meow!

It is idiots like Realist, who make comments like he did, behind the cover of a fake name and no true identity, that keep us apart and angry. Realist you should be ashamed to say such a cowardly thing. Anyone who condones violence and makes a joke of it in the aftermath of a families pain, regardless of who or what they are or precieved to be is a BIG DUM IDIOT!  Karma is bitch foolio.... obviously you know her well....

all you talking about gangs like they are some breed apart, whats the difference between gangs and governments??? both are a group of afilliated people with the same ideals and aims, both will do anything legal or illegal to get what they want, both murder, kill and loot, one a much larger scale than the other... the only real difference is that governments are beyond the law

Brilliant really for the silent coupsters to send our young military men and women overseas for the last decade while the real threat to freedom is here at home.

God almighty, you americans sure are a angry bunch, its kill him, bomb them, everything is violence with you, and just for good measure you export your mentality to the rest of the world. Just remember all you people condoning your worthless police, when you lot are in a real fight i.e Vietnam you get your asses kicked your only good when theres thousands of you against a bunch of "illegal combatants" or from miles away with your drones, when the chips are down you really are the worlds biggest pussies who have now turned on your own to satisfy your blood lust.

Well that's what happens when you live the Gangster life style.  These people sure are out in force protesting the police. Maybe they should take some of that energy to get rid of these stupid gangs.  Yet they choose to live in this toilet......no sympathy

No one should shed a tear for this worthless piece of garbage. He chose to be a big "tough" gangster, and look where it got him! All of you people who are protesting need to grow up, and let the police do their jobs. Anyone with a brain knows that the mexicans are just pissed off because a mexican gangster got shot. Who cares? This is why we need to deport them all.

they are all private agency working for the corporations.  Check them out on DUNS&BRADSTREET.  And they also register themself in Delaware.  They have a contract and they are not govt no longer but just private agency working as corporations.  They have a bond (insurance to cover them to shoot people & even kidnap)  Check out there bonds at the County Recorders office.  Even, Anthony Rackauckas is aslo DBA as DISTRICT ATTORNEY ANTHONY RACKAUCKAS.  He is also a private agency working as a corporations.

If you want to be a gangster then you have a few choices.  One don't be a gangster, two be a gangster and go to prison, three get killed by a rival gang or take on the cops.  The problem is not with the police it is the lack of respect that is shown by the public to each other.  Since the young man who was shot, may have been a gangster then if he was or he was hanging out with gangsters then he knew or should have known the that if he wanted to be part of an organization (gang)  that there was a strong possibility that this could happen.  Either he could have been shot by a rival gang or he too could have been a shooter in a shooting.

  So far all I see is everyone blaming the police.  What about the people in the neighborhood who these gang members terrorize. You know the people who they rob, car jack, steal their cars, break into their house's take their stuff, extort. They are called victims.  What about the kids who live in the same neighborhood as the gangsters, who don’t join gangs and go to school. What about these regular citizens who are victimized who cry’s for them.  Hmmm no one... Everyone think that there is always a cover-up.  Everyone has to get mad about something then they blame the police call them racist whatever. If there is a case the DA will go after the police who were involved in the shooting and they will be laid out and hung high.  But what if the shooting was actually justified then what will u cry because the masses didn’t get their way. Hmm I wonder....

Why don't they render first aid to him. Why do they just let him lay there! These are the things that make people angry. He is somebodies son, and to see him laying there and nobody helping him is horrible, they  treated him as a piece of trash. Trash is an object, this young man is a human being. These police just go around violating the rights of people by stopping them or flashing lights on them for no reason. I believe the police instigate the probable cause by flashing lights on them, and then when they run is the probable cause.

 @paulyg15 What a fool and spoken like a true punk. Gang members are juvenile delinquents, riding around on bicycles while still living at home with mommy while their sperm donor father is in prison or dead. While decent people are out working hard to get by the gang members prey on innocent people, steal from hard working people, they spray paint people's property.  Just little boys with guns...pathetic.

 @nabd83 Police officers are simply just regular people who have jobs with extremely difficult decisions to make. Mistakes will happen, and situations will not be handled as best as possible, but the public needs to realize that everyone involved in this and other incidents is still merely human.

What gang did Kelly Thomas belong too? Mentally ill Gang? The argument that you people are using that being a gangster (if he was) means he deserved to be executed (shot in the back of the head is weak). It's sort of like saying that women who are out at night by themselves deserve to be raped.

 @lukester

 I envy your optimism and naïveté, unless you are being intentionally ignorant. Police kill and injure innocent people all the time, and almost never pay any type penalty other than unpaid leave at the worst. And even if convicted (rare as hen's teeth) they never get the same penalty a non-cop would get. As far as your incredibly generic "well, he should have been killed because someone who looked sort of like him might have done something wrong at some point" comment is concerned, you might want to wait until you experience life before you waste electrons on another comment like this one.

 @wendy93292 My best wishes to the victims of this piece of trash.  To all of the robbery victims, the parents whose kids are on drugs sold to them by Diaz, to the ladies he snatched their purses, the home and business owners he spray painted.  One more piece of trash off the street YES!

 @L.Martinez  L.Martinez, if you were laying on the ground bleeding the diaz gang member would snatch your purse or wallet while you were bleeding to death and then kick you in the face before he left.

 @L.Martinez Why let him die? Well, if he lives, there's a victim that can tell his side of the story. If he dies, the police version has a much better chance of prevailing.

 ok so u want private police force's run by companies.  If you think the police are bad now then wait until you get what you want.  Cause when a company needs to make money they will do anything to get it done.  Blackwater, security forces that answer to the all mighty dollar...Hmmm what do u think

wendy93292

 @darrenlobo

 I believe that privatizing local law enforcement would be a disaster.  I can see it now, run by the mob or Blackwater-like companies who strong arm the community like an army.  I can't believe you said that.

US is under attack right now.  They've gotten to the police and the politicians.  Next, they are coming for you.  It's a coupe' e tat by the banks and a group who consider this their planet to do with as they wish, since they have hold the prestigious position of controlling the money supply.

It's a sad time in humanity.  Let's try to stay calm and figure out what to do.  I have been around cops a lot and never have I seen cops act the way I am watching cops act in America and Canada now.  They are community members, play on softball teams, go to school events.  No, something is up.

 @ron410 Please enlighten me....what is the actual situation????? Come on Ron, even if it is a toilet, why make it worse with the gang and drug environment????  They choose not to raise their kids in a kids in a fashion that will give them a head start in life. The next generation will be tattooing tear drops on their face.  Because that's what their parents taught them, sell and using drugs are ok, cause their parents taught them, shooting people cause they are from different gang or barrio cause their parents taught them.  Really Ron, what am I missing here????

 They should render aid because they are supposed to protect & serve not beat & murder. As far as we know and from what the witnesses have said this man was NOT committing a crime.  And as far as I know we still live in the USA where we have a judicial process.

 @lukester The Blackwater boogeyman! You & Wendy are funny.  The cops are literally killing us & all you 2 can do is cry that we need them. Talk about a Stockholm Syndrome! It is the almighty dollar that motivates them & their contractors now. Law enforcement & especially the war on drugs is a gravy train they don't want to stop riding. We need to introduce a customer- provider relationship into the situation. The people need to be able to withhold funding & fire the bums, not be forced to pay for their own oppression through the theft of taxation.

We need to move to a system of private security. There is no need for local police. History has already proved that private security is better at protecting us than the government is. A shining example is Oro Valley, Arizona. In 1975 they hired Rural/Metro Fire Department, Inc. to essentially be their police department providing the services previously provided by the county sheriff. Crime rates where greatly reduced at a fraction of the cost of a government police force. (See Guns for Protection, and Other Private Sector Responses to the Government's Failure to Control Crime, page 22 of the PDF page counter) http://www.mises.org/journals/jls/8_1/8_1_8.pdf

 @wendy93292 The Founders warned against having a standing army because it would be used to oppress the people. Today we have the police doing exactly that. If the Founders could see the situation today they no doubt would rail against the standing law enforcement establishment.

"A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence agst. foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home...Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people."         --James Madison

Here today, the police forces "...kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people."

 @ron410

 You talk about understanding the reality yet you don't know that the "closed in yard" isn't closed in at all. It's just the front there that has a fence. It's open in the back to an alley and there is a jr. high school and children all in that area that the police there have to protect. How do I know? I grew up in Anaheim and I know that area very well. I also know that the people who live there DO choose to live like that. For the same amount of rent, approx. $1,000 a month for a 2 bedroom, they can live across town in a less gang infected area. However, they want to be there because their homies run the neighborhood and they can live 10 to an apartment and it's tolerated. It is not the kind of lifestyle that most people who live here in Orange county want to live. Working minimum wage jobs, living 10 deep in filthy conditions. It takes a certain mentality to be ok with that. But hey, they are all just trying to make an honest living right? Sickening!

ron410
ron410

 @fc2479 The situation is that nobody really chooses to live in that environment (unless they're profiting from living there). Surely you can understand that everyone can't get jobs that  let them live in the suburbs, no matter how much they want to.

And do you expect moms with kids to don their Rambo outfits, strap the kids to their backs, and go out each night and clean up the neighborhoods themselves? Or maybe fathers working 60 or 80 hours a week for minimum wage can do it in their spare time? But why do the cops have to do it by shooting unarmed people in the back? You saw the video and know just where Diaz was when shot, in an enclosed yard with nowhere to go. Obviously, lethal force was the only answer.

I can't get a handle on your sense of reality, fc2479--it just seems like you're condemning the residents without having any kind of understanding for the reality of those living in such situations.  It's very easy to stand on the sidelines and talk about what they should and shouldn't do when you aren't caught in the middle of it yourself.

But lucky for you, you don't have to live it to know it. All you need do is think back to some situation in your life where things were beyond your control, then use your imagination. If you can't understand these basic facts of life, no one can make you understand anything about the people who live there.
