[UPDATED with PETA Virtual Dissection Bid:] Anti-Vivisection Group Demands Facebook Remove Harbor High Students' Dead Cat Photos

ORIGINAL POST, JULY 3, 2:15 P.M.: The nonprofit pressuring Newport-Mesa Unified School District officials to intervene to stop Newport Harbor High School students from posting Facebook photos of themselves playing with dead cats has now turned to the social network for help. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) also emailed the Weekly a sampling of what are alleged to be these very disturbing photos, which you'll find after the jump with this strict warning: you may lose your appetite or, if you've already eaten, your lunch.

Human faces are blurred in the following Facebook close-ups to protect possible minors. They are being presented in order of best to worst to stomach (in my humble opinion), with page breaks in between in case anyone wants to bail before scrolling down farther.

I refused to disect a frog when I was in HS - still got a 95 in Bio - did NOT miss anything by following ethics and morality.

These kids are so disrespectful... but you have to wonder at what level of depravity does their instructor reach....... He should have begun this with a strong lecture about respect for animals and their contribution to our society as a whole and that he would not tolerate disrespect from any student in his class.. BUT .... obviously he didn't ...so he has helped add more little monsters to our landscape..... He should not be teaching this class...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Kids being kids"....what a really sad statement if this really reflects on how kids behave. They have learned to have absolutly no respect for living beings. I have nothing against them having fun; the problem is the grotesque way they are having it. Whatever happened to just kicking a ball, ride a bike or skateboard, or sumply tossing a frisbee to one onther? I m not rebuking what they are doing realy; if they show interest in learning in a serious manner and if are interested in veterinarian medicine.

even if they were interested in veterinary science disecting live/dead animals is NOT the best way to learn that subject. Using real animals is just teaching these fools not to have respect for any sentient being.These 'kids' look like jerks.
