Chip maker Intel says it is funding a $12.5 million research center at UC Irvine. The Intel Science and Technology Center for Social Computing apparently opened June 1, using existing facilities to apply social science and humanities to the design and analysis of digital information. Thus, our crude artist rendering of an Intel building to the right does not apply, but we still have one burning question.

Will we hear this whenever we pass Intel researchers on campus struggling to apply social science and humanities to the design and analysis of digital information?
