There should be a study & report as to how many brutality & excessive force complaints have been made through out Orange County by citizens to force a Federal & State investigation as to the training and practices of the police agencies who are suppose to protect & serve us and not be judge, jury & executioner.I find it amazing that the California Highway Patrol, a police agency who stop thousands of motorist a day, investigate crimes and respond to calls in rural areas hardly are in the limelight for excessive force, police brutality and killing innocent citizens. Orange County is not a ghetto and most of us have respect for law enforcement. It just feels like law enforcement has no respect for us.

Don't forget Jeff Kotrys who was gunned down in March of 2009 .after his mother called for assistance. He had a previous history of mental instability the the police were well aware of and had instructions to bring a negotiator. In stead two of Garden Groves finest shot him in cold blood.

Kelly Thomas was fighting with the police till his last few breaths, look at the video closely, even the taser didnt phase him. You hear am sorry but he keeps fighting. This low life could have stabbed or killed an officer. I would exchange the lives of 100 Kelley Thomas' over any peace officer.

This officer will get an unneccesary slap on the wrist and that is it.

I'm no cop so can't know what it's like, but wouldn't it be easier to just have all the 5 police officers hold him down and put the handcuffs on him and then place him in the car? Since he wasn't on drugs, he couldn't have been that strong.

Are there any police who read this and can answer. I don't be mean to be questioning your tactics, seems to easy to overpower one person, put cuffs on and then throw into back seat of car and certainly less dangerous for the officers than continuing to fight with the guy.

Kelly Thomas was not "fighting with the police" he was struggling to free himself. The only fighting he was doing was for his life, that is how self preservation works. When you are having trouble breathing you body will automatically struggle so it can get a breath, it is instinctual, it can not be controlled, it is not justification for the police behavior.

This was an unprovoked attack straight out of the pages of Clockwork Orange. We know how law enforcement works, that is why many run.

u must be one dumb person.or someone who have work in law enforcement or maybe just an idiot. we run from cops because they play soldiers and enemy. instead of protecting and serving, the cops are hunting people like salvage animals in the wild. people run because of inequality. the cops are security force for the rich upper class. they slave themselves to protect those who pays them. cops should not act this way.they are highly untrained, unprofessional, and undisciplined. cops are murderers. they abuse their power. protecting people does not mean putting 18 bullet in there ass. . cops have an illusion of power, they don't realize that their power are exercise by the upper class. they are doing things that the rich white people want them to do. it is to eliminate those who threats their interest.

And when Kelly stood up Ramos and his crooked faced partner began the beat down... There were about 100 different ways they could have diffused that scenario... But as you can tell from the opening sequence Ramos was looking to fuck someone up...period. ALSO... I know several cops and one of my coworkers put himself through the Fullerton Academy and a strike to the face/head is considered lethal force... What made these cops decide that Kelly was such a threat that they needed to apply lethal force?

If I threatened to fuck you up its a crime... If I shoved you like Ramos did to Kelly its a crime....

Cops arent above the law even though these ones though they were...
